Some honest feedback
Look to the devs who see this I will preface I do like this game and I want to finish it,

But I gotta be honest after the first few stages a lot of the time this game has frustrating trial and error segments because the game basically kills you so quickly. If its not some boss or puzzle its getting insta killed by some in game event or item combination. Given that the devs have opted for limited saving capabilities (please for the love of god if your gonna auto save can you do it AFTER the dialogue? It doesnt matter that I cant skip it its just extra time im not fighting a boss) and a high difficulty what this means is that theres needs to be high polish and balance otherwise things will just feel frustrating, especially if theres a delay of going back and forth to where you died. But the problem is that isnt there. For example...

-The tank can shoot through boxes sometimes
-The heat sensors dont have any indication of their limits so your just guessing where that is
-Getting caught is basically a game over, might as well just insta kill me
-If u dont hit EXACTLY the back of tank (so the edge near the back) doesnt count
-The player takes so much damage so quickly
-What is the point of bleeding? More often that not its a nuisance mid boss fight
-F*ck that submarine
-Lowering difficulty doesnt carry over if you die
-Thumbstick is broken
-If the drones crates block you by accident enjoy eating sh*t
-Etc etc etc

Point is theres a lot of points I thought to myself "why the ♥♥♥♥ is this designed like this?" and "why would they just insta kill me? hows that fair?"

One the one hand I understand the desire to keep this challenging and fresh with action packed boss fights, vehicle bits, puzzles and etc, as in MGS1 much of the challenge (and frustration) was far less from the stealth and more from the bosses. However at times I feel like im playing contra or some other 80's action game opposed to something inspired by MGS/MG. Which again you guys deserve to be your own thing but it kinda clashes with what seems like the stealth game feel.

Anyway I still LIKE the game and I dont want you guys to be disheartened but as I get close to finishing the game I just need to vent my thoughts. I wont give this a negative review but due to a lot of my frustrations I cant give it a positive one either.

(Also why the ♥♥♥♥ are achievments tied to challenges? So if I finish a level but forgot some medal I dont get it??)

Dude, it's supposed to be a hard game. These aren't poor decisions, they're deliberate. Have you ever played any of the original MSX games?

I will grant you that the fact that achievements being tied to challenges is BS, and that the gamepad is an issue, but honestly, these other things you complain about are just very easy to overcome. And it's not like I'm a sucker for hard games or anything like that. I find something like the original Battletoads to be frustrating as hell, but this? Nah.

Thank you for providing feedback. Can I ask what difficulty you played the game?

Also, just FYI, a lot of these issues are on our notes for review already.

While I am enjoying the game and some of it's humorous writing, I do agree that the difficulty spikes at times and especially the trial and error stuff can be an exercise in frustration. (The forced alarm and fight during the 2 minute med bay rush, the Drill Sergeant dialogue tree boss battle which is literally just a load-savegame spamfest until you choose the 'right' responses..)

I tried to use the smoldering cigarette butt to see the heat sensors also, thought it would be an obvious homage to MGS :steamsad:

Normal, tho I eventually switched to easy in the later chapters due to limited time to finish it on my end

Its a very 80's sensibility. I dont mind challenging games, some of which are my favorite games. But I also dont believe trial and error or failing due to poor information feels fun. If you know why you failed then the game doesnt feel frustrating.
