don't you see the shader recompile in the bottom left? yeah, that's it... takes a few minutes while the game is locked to 30 fps. yw

did you wait for the shaders to be done? takes quite some time.

I did and it worked great after that but as soon as I tabbed out to my other monitor for discord it started stuttering again
Its not just you.

Pre-patch my game ran fine at 90+ FPS on all-quality settings w/DLSS on balanced.

Post-Patch I have it running on performance w/most shadows off and barely get 30fps... Even after shader compilation

Same issues here, choppy, even after shader compilation which took an hour, which is extremely excessive.
The process is also starting on lower-priority in Task Manager, not 'normal'.
Randomly utilising all my RAM and triggering crashes (rolling back to entry point of a new save), 32GB.
Randomly seizing up the system briefly.
Not really noticing much difference graphically other than everything is just a ton more blurry now (Anyone know how to disable this DLSS nonsense?), it looks horrible.
Something has clearly gone wrong in the update.

I was worried Id be the only negative nacy but I guess not, the performance of the game has gone down a lot and the load times have tripled.
+1 to this. I recently purchased this game to try it out. It's hardly playable with these performance issues. With a RTX 3080 ti, Ryzen 9 3900X, and 32 GB of DDR4 and I can only get 20-30fps on all settings unless I drop to "Performance," which gives about 40-50fps. Also when opening the inventory menus on "Performance", my fps drops by about 15, which is just silly.

I was having a similar issue. Game would be unplayable even after shaders. But when I tabbed out I noticed the game was smooth. After poking around, I found that disabling any Nvidia replay options resolved the issue.

I was getting 15fps and then updated my nvidia driver, now I'm at 250fps.

- 7900X
- RTX 3080
- 32 GB

I was still getting bad frame issues while in inventory and the settings menu. Turning Vsync on fixed the rest of these issues. Hope this helps someone
