Shader Compiling AND vRAM Usage Are WEIRD.
After the last update the shader compiling takes eons to be done (at least for me as host, while who is joining my hosted server is a bit faster)

AND

The vRAM usage has literally doubled... before the patch the game was sitting around 5-6GB now it is almost 10GB (SAME SETTINGS as before, nothing changed)

Yep, same here.
In addition to that I experience intermittend screen flickering and an extremly bright flashing spot from time to time, flooding the entire screen with almost blinding light for a couple of seconds, which might be of concern for people affected by epilepsy.
My partner sitting next to me has the same problem, so it's not just me.
All drivers, firmware etc. up to date.
Same for me. But the flashing bright light is triggering my nyctalopia (night blindness) making it awkward to see in dim lighting. :lolskull:
Same here, compiling takes ages and seems to have to be done every launch... weird.

We have noticed a very fast flickering too but all black, it appear, flash for a millisecond and then goes away.

Happy to know we are not the only two people to experience this.

After the last patches, it seems that my game does no more the compiling as it has been done twice only and never anymore. It is more stable, faster and i have got not anymore issues due to the shaders being compiled (as i had to wait for them).

The vRAM weirdness still remains, the game seems to use more vRAM than before these patches

AND

I have to say that i have still the weird micro black flickering that happens sometimes (on ALL my/our PCs as this happens to both my 2 PCs and my wife as well... so it is not the hardware or windows the issue).

Tested on additional older GPUs (a Sapphire Nitro 570 8GB and a Sapphire Nitro 580 8GB) and the game takes up around 6GB of ram.

I guess the game act on total vRAM percentage (between 60 and 70% approximately on my tests).

On our Sapphire Nitro 6800XT-SE it takes around 9-10 GB of the total 16 available and on those cards with 8GB around 6GB more or less.
4080 and shares takes years also buged.. and dont start any solution?

Waiting. I hate to say that but it sometimes takes three minutes just to start.

samesies
Something is def. up with this version/update. I keep freezing and crashing out of game and the higher the settings, the faster it does it. I had to lower to the lowest settings to be able to get through Hallow Halls without crashing but it's the same out in the world.

I'm on a 4090 so there should be plenty of vram but it seems something is hitting a limit given enough time. And it's infuriating loosing progress every time it crashes...

It's a shame because I really love this game. Perfect mix of activities all done well.

If you are getting a "out of video memory" crash it is a bug that is present on ALL the 3000 and 4000 Nvidia series that has NEVER been addressed.

This happens mainly with UE5 and some UE4 versions of engine.

The only solution is to try your luck and do some reinstallations of the drivers or find some that will luckly not bug out.

Because on every AMD i have tested out (as said on other topics even old ones al togheter with our main cards that are 2 Sapphire Nitro 6800XT SE) we have no issues at all (and never had on every patch till now) beside the Shader compiling that has been fixed with the last patch

For me the game became unplayable since the last update, it just fully crashes my PC :c
It's on a 980TI with 6G vRAM, so most likely it just crashes because of vRAM overflow.
Which is insane when playing the game on the _lowest_ settings.
it's unfortunate i myself wanted to enjoy the game but pushing my GPU more than i'm comfortable with so gonna wait atleast 3 months and see how it's progressed in the optimization department.

Don't think that's it. Been running other games, Satisfactory for example for hours and hours without problems and that uses UE5. Doesn't rule it out ofc but seems strange if it's the only game having crash-problems.

It is a hit and miss mostly. This is a documented and tested enough crash type that happens with that kind of video cards.

You might have hit the mark with that game but this other one might not works the same.

Fact is, all the AMD cards i tested out, the game runs fine, both on very old CPU and decently new. Last day i tested the game using an I9-12900K that is fairly new still today.. and all was fine.
