Alternate character sharing map locations?

I created an alt to play solo while my main is to play with friends. however, if I find something with my alt, my main then has a location marker on his map for that location. Is this supposed to happen?

its not shared between your two charakters its shared for the map so evryone gets markers if one find it.
if you want a seperate world you need to make a seperate world and play there with your alt.
