The OP didn't wait for the full growth period per yak, at 16 plus yaks at 4 wool a yak they should of gotten 64 plus wool. User problem, not game problem. Further there's not much need for wool after you get your armor, so they really don't need 16 plus yaks if they are playing solo.
I've never made anything except the heavy armor, but the heavy armor (at least) requires ALOT of wool. It takes ALOT of linen as well, but you likely already have the production in place at that point. You can also more easily multiply linen production.
I don't know or remember what it takes to get the yak recipes, but it is right around the time you get steel and want to make armor, but getting wool a very drawn out process at that point, and it's difficult at best to explore the cold regions before you make mountain armor.
That was bad enough previously, but at least you could beat a few lox to death pretty easily and get a couple of wool. Now they made speedy McLox, which makes it much more difficult to gather wool that way, and likely not worth it.
It feels to me like the time period in Valheim when you get a seed from the next biome and spend RL hours piddling around, waiting for it to multiply so you can get the better food.
Personally, I'd find it more plausible if the yaks would flee if you got too close to them outside of taming (without having set bait), but fight back if you attack them.
As for the quest for the wool, it's perfectly doable before you've made the cold protection armour.
I also think you have enough to explore and do in the non-frosty areas of the Summits until you have enough for the new armour(s), and short trips there are also doable without.
As you only make the armour once per player, the amount of materials required, including wool and linen, is not too much for me. One should still work for things - my opinion.
What I think could be improved is the limitation on the amount of wool or milk that farm animals can produce at once.
It's not that there should be more items per se, but that the animals should be able to 'store' a lot more, so that the player is not constantly forced to return to the base to collect them.
In my opinion, this goes against the concept of a game where exploration is one of the main pillars of the entertainment value.
Have fun!
I agree 100%, but it should be proportional. When somethings stands out as seeming overly burdensome from other aspects of the game, then it should be pointed out, and I believe this is one of those cases.
Hey, sure. I wouldn't question that in any way. The game is in EA after all. At the end of the day, all we can do is express our opinions and hope for the best. :-)
Have fun!
