An archer's issues
I finally unlocked the Explosive Arrows and it was the first time that I really had to ask myself if the devs are serious.

I play with my husband who is a magic user. And since he unlocked the infinite spells I've been waiting for the big wow moment for me as an archer. And I was fully expecting the unlocking of exploding arrows to be this moment. Now the joke is on me. Instead of becoming simpler it just gets more and more tedious. And I don't mind grinding at all! I even like it to some extend. But this? Come on, this is ridiculous!

And that on top of the fact that I don't seem to have the god of rng on my side at all. Upon entering the desert with the lvl 21 mobs I am still using the Fell Commander Bow - and believe me, we are leaving no stone unturned while exploring! Husband on the other hand gets basically bombarded with staffs and spells and scrolls and what not for his stupid light show. Yesterday we even made a little farming run at the Jasper Isles for the first time. And instead of giving me ONE good bow - again HE got all the loot and bits and pieces he could dream of. That was frustrating and boring af. So we stopped.

And then there is the fact that the last two skills Multi Shot and Bee Sting, which I was so looking forward to, are a two edged sword. At best. Ok, I found a way to utilize Bee Sting, at last, but really? That should be a skill which you unlock after 5 points max. And Multi Shot - no, I won't start this again. That was talked about ad nauseum here. I respecced out of it, too. Not worth it at all.

So. I know, no one can help me but the devs and if they will? Who knows.
Therefore I am only looking for other frustrated and envious archers to share my grief. I don't want to play another class. I wanted to be an archer. Meh.
But the devs seem to think that archers are some purist types that find enlightenment through grinding. Or that we don't need nothing because we already have enough when we sit on a stone and try to snipe the baddies with a sling shot.

Now if you excuse me. I have a stick bush farm to tend to. Or animal burrows to mine.

OK will check that out. Thanks for the tip. Still a lot of work when you compare it to mages who just get eternal spells lol and can cast away while making mana potions with mushrooms they can easiyl farm in their garden en masse.

Yeah no doubt, it needs some better balance.

Just wanted to highlight this - get the ability that stuns with explosive arrows (Shell Shock) and use shroud arrows, they work together. Bee sting also works well with them for getting the angle to shoot into the middle of a crowd or to just shoot below you and watch them all run into the cloud.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention. I do exactly that! (That's what I meant by I found a use for the Bee Sting skill.) But I was hoping for the explosive arrows to be the equivalent for inside the shroud. Which sadly they are not. Expensive as they are. I hope someday they will.

Thanks, that sounds at least a little more promising. But, yeah, as Humpenstilzchen mentioned, still a lot of work. But better than chasing chickens. ^^

I agree with all you've said. Out of the four of us, 2 mages and 1 tank and me... silly archer that I am, I'm the only one missing the level 25 chest. sigh... I'm using a less than optimal bow because I absolutely need fire damage since so many of the higher level, armored foes just laugh at my arrows, poisoned or not. And, explosive arrows, I would laugh but... really. *continues to farm draconic birds that also laugh at arrows WITH A FREAKING WAND*

Still love it, but yeah, tending gardens and hunting feathers takes a lot of the fun out of things. I get into the game way before anyone else just to get the things I need to make arrows. I did not take multi-shot. I do like that the wildlife and such don't bother me until I shoot them, and i can spend 20 min in the shroud, but seriously, we need a little bit of love in the damage department. Just a tad.. just... please?

Interesting! I have not seen those yet. Will keep my eyes open, thanks!

I didnt feel it added much to the bow outside of dex for damage...

If devs introduced that, I would personally drive to their HQ and kiss the feet of the ones who decided that. Or maybe I wouldn't. Maybe I would send them a present basked full of twigs and feathers.

Eternal frikkin arrows is what we need. I don´t care if they are stupidly expensive to craft or hard to find but imagine how awesome that would be.

Yes, please! That would be just fair.

I Think a Quiver with stats would be nice. The Quiver could be made magical to allow eternal, or every arrow you use to have a bonus to X damage type.
I am glad I made the million flint arrows for the explosives, I can use them for all the puzzles and other "useless" tasks.

I once cleared such a camp and came out with 12 or 13 feathers and thought i finally found a good farmspot for feathers.
I was wrong.
I did it a second time and returned with.... 4 feathers.
I did it multiple times, also tried other vukah camps... and most time i left with only 5-6 feathers.

Not really surprising as in those camps usually are like 15-20 vukahs. Each one of them only has a chance to drop one, EXACTLY ONE feather. In some camps there are 2-3 feathers lying around you can pick up with every respawn.
I'd estimate the chance for a vukah to drop a feather is like 10%, maybe 15%. At least that's my estimate, i didn't do a statistic analysis on that.

More reliable are the wyverns in the desert. They seem to almost drop feathers every time and often 2-3 one kill. But they are pita to kill with melee, so either you better use use magic or waste arrows while grinding for arrows.

Also in another thread i did the math for explosive arrows.

For crafting 25 explosive arrows (including blackpoweder and other dependencies) you need:
25 flint arrows
5 feather
5 brimstone
10 coal powder
175 sand
175 salt
35 wood acid
35 shroud spores
35 mycel
35 water
35 shroud fluid

Ok, i guess exploding arrows are not ment to be your common all day use. But WTF?

With these numbers it would make almost sense counting the ingedients in stacks, instead of items. *lol*

I usually managed around 8+ for a large camp with around 10-15 of them...they seemed to drop them reliably for me...I can do a test maybe a see.

The dragon bird things are easy with melee, if you just hold block and swing after they land their hit. Goes faster with a heavy hitting 2hder.

I generally drop arrows as they fly towards me and they usually only have HP left for a couple of swings with a 2h weapon. But yeah they tend to always drop a feather, sometimes two. The blue ones might have a better chance to drop multiple feathers, not sure?

omfg... THIS I didn't know. Yes, I've seen they are expensive but this is... even worse than I thought. Absolutely sobering.
Before I unlocked the recipe I really thought I could craft them with the exploding little balls and carefully kept them in my later-chest. What a summer child I was.

As a gamer who always gravitates towards archer/hunter builds, I must say that is my biggest disappointment in Enshrouded, a game I otherwise love.

Sneak really seems broken to me. It works consistently in very specific situations, but on the whole it is pretty worthless. For example, I can sneak up to a Vukah, with his back turned to me, and always at 20 meters, the Vukah spins around and attacks me, every time, at level 25 with full Eagle Eye armor and both a lvl 25 legendary fast bow and lvl 25 epic long bow.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3164203531

In my skill tree, everything in ranger is unlocked except Bee Sting (which doesn't seem worth the points to get). I also have most of Beastmaster and half of assassin unlocked.

Trying to keep stocked on iron arrows makes the ranger class feel broken. Iron is easy. Twigs a bit of a pain, but once you know three wolf/tiger dens that you can fly straight to from a tower, it's really not that bad. I can get 300 twigs in a 25 minute twig run, which for me is fine. But feathers are just stupid. All one needs to know how broken it is is to look at my large chest full of stacks of chicken meat, but only 125 iron arrows and four feathers on me to see how wack feathers are.

The other big indicator for me that Ranger is deficient as a class is that I fight and kill way more mobs using a sword and shield than I do my bow, which is sad really. Ranger suffers in Enshrouded, not from one huge fatal bug or missing piece, it suffers from many cuts each diminishing the ranger until it hardly makes sense to use the build, as it stands now. : /
