An archer's issues
I finally unlocked the Explosive Arrows and it was the first time that I really had to ask myself if the devs are serious.

I play with my husband who is a magic user. And since he unlocked the infinite spells I've been waiting for the big wow moment for me as an archer. And I was fully expecting the unlocking of exploding arrows to be this moment. Now the joke is on me. Instead of becoming simpler it just gets more and more tedious. And I don't mind grinding at all! I even like it to some extend. But this? Come on, this is ridiculous!

And that on top of the fact that I don't seem to have the god of rng on my side at all. Upon entering the desert with the lvl 21 mobs I am still using the Fell Commander Bow - and believe me, we are leaving no stone unturned while exploring! Husband on the other hand gets basically bombarded with staffs and spells and scrolls and what not for his stupid light show. Yesterday we even made a little farming run at the Jasper Isles for the first time. And instead of giving me ONE good bow - again HE got all the loot and bits and pieces he could dream of. That was frustrating and boring af. So we stopped.

And then there is the fact that the last two skills Multi Shot and Bee Sting, which I was so looking forward to, are a two edged sword. At best. Ok, I found a way to utilize Bee Sting, at last, but really? That should be a skill which you unlock after 5 points max. And Multi Shot - no, I won't start this again. That was talked about ad nauseum here. I respecced out of it, too. Not worth it at all.

So. I know, no one can help me but the devs and if they will? Who knows.
Therefore I am only looking for other frustrated and envious archers to share my grief. I don't want to play another class. I wanted to be an archer. Meh.
But the devs seem to think that archers are some purist types that find enlightenment through grinding. Or that we don't need nothing because we already have enough when we sit on a stone and try to snipe the baddies with a sling shot.

Now if you excuse me. I have a stick bush farm to tend to. Or animal burrows to mine.

After reading all your rant I still miss a single word about what exactly it is you don't like about the explosive arrow...😳
Rng is a ♥♥♥♥♥ we all know that... Therefore I prefer currency systems over rng... Give me x tokens for quests and let me "buy" the stuff I need

The cost. It's the cost. They are sooo expensive to craft.

The explosive arrows cost a lot more then the shroud arrows (the ones that leave a shroud cloud when shot), while they do almost as much damage and also over an area.
Use those.
It's true though, even the weapon itself, staves do not have durability, where bows do.
Even my melee chars carry a staff with an eternal fireball, to break pots and crates.

The whole balance is messed up tbh.

Mages are way too strong and 80% of the loot is for mages. Melee fighters on the other hand constantly have to deal with broken gear and can´t hit flying enemies and archers..omg..the archery..is just grind, grind and more grind.

I also like grind, I wouldn´t have more than a thousand hours in Valheim if I did not but omg the grind for decent arrows in enshrouded kills all the fun and having to headshot stronger enemies a dozen times is not satisfying either and is a huge waste of arrows on top and it encourages boring cheese tactics like climbing up somewhere because what can you do if you are surrounded by many enemies and everyone needs multiple headshots to die? You climb up somewhere and pick them off one by one. Most efficient way for any archer or mage but it doesn´t feel good to play that way.

Some of the elite mobs are just way too tanky, which is one of the reasons why melee characters have issues with keeping their gear in good shape and why archers constantly run out of arrows. The further you get in the game the less fun it becomes due to this hp bloat.

I much prefer how Valheim devs handled this with super hard hitting enemies but you also hit super hard. Makes for a much more enjoyable and satisfying combat. The same could be said about Elden Ring. Hard hitting mobs but you also hit hard. Much better imho and your weapons don´t break which is a huge plus.

Don´t get me wrong, I love Enshrouded, though I think it needs some major rebalancing.

It does take a bit to get a good bow, but once you do I really didnt have much issue...hitting level 25 flying dragon things for 400-500 damage with poisoned iron arrows.
I played through the game honestly for the first couple of times to level 25. I do enjoy the grind for a while. However, I don't want to keep having to grind when I'm over level 15 or so. I'm not going on an annoying stick run for the zillionth time to make some arrows. So, whenever I get to the point that I can't be bothered with grinding, and since it's just me playing alone or with my brother, I break out the Fling Trainer and turn off recipe requirements. Now, granted, you could use this the entire time and make all grinding a thing of the past, but imho it would also negate playing the game entirely. Yeah, I'm not going to waste HOURS trying to gather the ingredients to make arrows after I've found the recipe and made a few batches. After that enjoyment, it's time to end the grind. And yes, the punks using magic get EVERYTHING. lol I totally agree with you there. My brother gets to have LOADS of damage with one shot and I have to peg away for AGES.

Right? It's soooo annoying! Maybe I wouldn't even notice that much if rng god wouldn't bathe husband in stuff permanently. And give him UNfrickingLIMITED spells while I run after the 50th chicken.

Oh yes, I still love Enshrouded. AND my husband. Of couse. But right now I need to remind me of that fact with every chest we open. ;)

That calms me down a little bit. How long did it take you to find that treasure of a bow? Did you have to farm? Or did it just happen?

I wish I could decide when to use multi-shot instead of it randomly happening, I will say that.

Just happened, I havent farmed anything yet really.

Just a lv 23 with around 35 damage.

I will say I do get TONS of staves etc that drop like candy that I dont need.

And with my spec, I use 1h, Shield, 2h and bow...so almost nothing I cant use yet I will say I find 1 staff for every 1 other weapon I seem to get.

Use those.

Just wanted to highlight this - get the ability that stuns with explosive arrows (Shell Shock) and use shroud arrows, they work together. Bee sting also works well with them for getting the angle to shoot into the middle of a crowd or to just shoot below you and watch them all run into the cloud.

Just as a tip for those that dont know...

You can use grass to make Shrub Seedlings, and they drop grass and twigs, so you can drop down 200 shrubs fairly easy so you dont have to search for twigs for arrows.

Twigs are not the issue they are easy to obtain. Feathers though are and they are very time consuming to get

I go to the Vurrkrull or whatever camps...they seem to have a very high drop rate, and a couple around the camp.

You drop 10 of those guys and you can walk away with a ton of feathers fast...and they are very easy to kill without using a bow.

OK will check that out. Thanks for the tip. Still a lot of work when you compare it to mages who just get eternal spells lol and can cast away while making mana potions with mushrooms they can easily farm in their garden en masse.
