Why is my wand using mana?

Everything I read says wands don't use mana. I am currently level 11 and using a level 15 Infernal wand. I have upgraded all 5 of the available upgrades on the wand. I just did a test in the yard at my starter base. The first few wand casts don't affect my mana bar at all. Then if I keep casting with the wand my mana starts to go down rapidly. It ends up completely depleted. I can still cast with the wand but I wouldn't be able to use anything that requires mana like the staff. This has to be a bug? Should I send a bug report?

Can anybody else try the same test and see if your mana goes down.

And just to be sure, the blue bar under my health bar is mana correct?

I also double checked to make sure raising my shield or using blink isn't draining the mana. It is not.

Must be a bug, only thing that drains mana in the skill tree is blink attack and the mage punch in the trickster tree, other than that just regular staff magic.

Yes this is must be a bug. A wand shouldn´t use any of your mana.

Blink isn't using mana. I will go back and try again and use blink a bunch of times just to make sure.

Blink does not drain my mana. Neither does raising my shield or blinking with shield raised. On a whim, I put my root staff into a storage box. Now my mana does NOT drain. This has to be a bug. There is no mention of the root staff draining mana. Also if I DON'T equip the root staff as a ranged weapon in my character menu mana doesn't drain with the wand. If I DO equip the root staff as my ranged weapon, this issue occurs.

At this point I'm thinking of either using a bow in place of a staff with my wizard build or just respeccing skill points and going full archer.
