The option to pick things up is annoying

And should only work with the construction hammer in hand. Constantly seeing the pop up every time I walk around my house, or on every single object in an area I claim is annoying and sometimes results in accidental deletion of items.

Tip: When I am in my house I press "ESC" and then "Hide HUD" (left open). Then no options pop up and I can enjoy my home (you can still interact with chests or workstations, when HUD is hidden).

Partial fix, but not going to solve the accidental pickups. And unnecessary steps. I hope they change it.

Yes! I made a base near a well and accidentally picked it up and it broke....
I'm still only lvl 9 so I gotta remove my flame and wait for it to respawn. Really annoying....

Really, the best fix is like you said, only show the prompts when you're using the hammer. But I'd go further and only show them when you have the hammer and are also in build mode. The game also needs to prevent you from dismantling things through walls and floors.

I agree, the option to pick up placed items shouldn't appear unless you're in "build mode".

I'm building a castle surrounded by a medieval village, and I've reached the interior decorating stage. So everywhere I go I see a sea of endless prompts to pick up chairs, tables, candles, wall sconces, carpets, etc.

maybe at the flame altar should be settings for your base turn off pickup / lock doors and chests that kind of stuff

I'd like to see the option to have doors open when you walk into them and then close behind you.
