Is there a way to gain altitude with the glider?

I have the first glider you can craft. Every time I use it I can glide a decent distance but I'm always going down to some degree. I haven't figured out if you can make the glider go straight maintaining the same height or upward. I am playing on controller. I am able to make it go downward pretty rapidly if I need to land in a certain area.

Thats the point of the glider - otherwise you could just fly everywhere.

But there is a skill that lets you gain a bit of altitude once per flight i think.

yes, get a few points in spirit, get two of the mana regen rings, then the skill in the assassin tree called Updraft. get a bunch of endurance and literally fly across the map. you can cancel your glide and get back into it to instantly use Updraft again whenever needed.

Would be cool if there were some thermal updraft's that were on the map randomly you could catch to gain some altitude as well.

that would defiantly feel less cheesy
