It would be way better if the skill magically summoned 1 random ally from the area for each skill you have learned when you start a fight or something like that.
With a little experimentation I've managed to get both Vukah and beasts to help me but as you say @Leaper - it's not *that* great at the moment.
However, both Vukah and a tiger did assist with my Fell Monstrosity fight - both with killing the wasps and then directly attacking the boss - I basically pulled the boss out of the shroud and ran about drawing the Vukah and the tiger into the fight.
I don't mind the temp nature of the guarding feature, but your guarding creature needs to follow more closely and their reaction time needs to be better. The reaction time of the non-guarding Vukah/beasts needs to be a little quicker too, I think?
