It's a singleplayergame with coop functionality up to 16 players.
Worlds are locally hosted and "friends" can join you to play together.
You basicly play this game with friends and not with randoms joining every now and then..
There is no need to have defences because there is no PvP, no npc Raids, no npc defenders, no auto fire tower, etc pp.
You build you bases as hubs where you craft and store your stuff after an exploration tour or boss hunts.
Folks really need to stop putting the responsibility of making friends onto the developers. Seek out a community, join it, meet people, then SURPRISE! You'll have servers to join.
unfortunate there is no pve vs base? Still, from that i saw the building is the main focus and that looks pretty sweet to say the least.
