remove game check for hardware system specs (GPU etc)
I run Steam games via Parallels on a MacBook Pro. The only games I can't run are ones that try to be "smart" and check the hardware specs (like Enshrouded seems to). My system is more than capable of running this game so just let it try rather than doing an artificial check on my system specs.

I know we're a small proportion of the market but, by doing things like this, you are losing sales to anyone with a Mac.

Cmon man, you're using a crap of a OS for gaming. What do you expect ?
Surmandanil Oct 14, 2023 @ 1:55pm
Can't play either on windows as Enshrouded keeps saying that graphic requirements are not met.. but they are.. The check just is buggy. Others with the same GPU can play so obviously an RX 6700 XT seems to be enough with double the amount of required vram, but they still have unexpected performance issues.

Right now, this simply tells me not to buy the early access game when it's out. Even when I get it run I might end up with only 50 to 60 fps which at times might drop to 30 to 40 fps if those problems continue in the ea version.

Really? Explain how exactly. I can run almost every Windows games - often at max graphics settings. Two of the three games I've been unable to run do stupid stuff like this (disallowing the game from running even though it would almost certainly have run just fine).

I partly agree with @Mazdahay although I wouldn't be so harsh in my wording calling Mac os for a crap system for gaming.(There is some truth to it though)

You have a Macbook pro which is quite a capable laptop, but it still isn't a computer made for gaming, and it will show if you run into some of the more demanding games, especially open world games with building and crafting in fairly high detailed environment, and on top of this Enshrouded is also voxel based which means that the world is solid and can be terraformed.
This require some beefy gaming pc, heck even my Desktop pc with I9 9900K, 32 GB ram, RTX2080TI 11 GB Vram is struggling to keep it running smoothly XD.

You say that you can run pretty much almost every windows game and often at max graphics settings?
I took the liberty to examine your most played games and they are mostly old games or less graphics intensive games, I didn't see a single game in same category as Enshrouded.

Like I said a Macbook pro is a fairly decent laptop for gaming, especially if it is a recent model, but it is still a laptop and not built for demanding gaming, that is why there is a thing called gaming pc's ;)

+1 want to play on mac via Parallels
Haplo164 Oct 21, 2023 @ 11:42am
I'm assuming an arm based Mac, its possible the game is exploiting some low level x64 stuff that is either not possible or not performent on arm.

It's funny that you think you should be able to play games on a macbook.

In the best case scenario would be making it native to Mac or Rosetta it
SpaceCowboy7 Nov 30, 2023 @ 3:27pm
Some old dos games could be run fine with the -p command line argument after the .exe to prevent processor check. This would be simple to implement, but i understand they dont. They dont want to be sued by people with crappy GPU's when they meltdown. lol

Again as 2 others above said Macbooks ain't really for gaming nor are optimised well, it requires the devs go out of their way for only a few that doesn't know much about computers otherwise you would've gone with windows.

I run most games on 4K and high settings, or 2K on ultra with my i9-12900K, 32GB DDR5 and GTX1660ti.

But recent games, like Enshrouded and Palworld seem much more intensive. I do not play below 2K and 60FPS and at this moment I really look to replace my GPU for a 4070ti or something. I can play on 1080 with med-low settings and I get 60fps, so I do not like to play right now.

These games are just resource intensive and use newer GPU tech, time to update if we want to keep running games at 2K or more.

Concerning Mac books its a different story ofcourse, I'd say: Gasoline and some fire will help you out

Whether Mac’s are for gaming or not is irrelevant, the point is there’s no reason to have this check, and not let the user see if the game can or can’t run. It won’t just melt down GPUs if it doesn’t that’s not how it works. Besides, it apparently blocked people with 6700 XT

I dont really understand. You can still play the game? Or do i misundetstand this?

I also have this check, even though i Meeting the requirements and my System is up to date.

Its just a Bug, they hopefully sometime will adress.

dont feel bad....its doing it to me with MS and probably linux as well. its in the game and nothing can be done about it until the devs do something about it. but apparently they quit monitoring Steam because nothing gets done here...YOU HAVE TO USE THEIR DISCORD no other option ---- to lazy to monitor 2 different areas , which is bad because the excuse for moderation goes out the window because its already in place on Steam and everything is already in place and updated...Discord you have to set everything up and then monitor that for bugs and updates that can screw you as well ( ive done it with Destiny 2 for clan communication ) plus if you have over 15 people chatting at the same time YOU ARE GOING TO MISS SOMETHING !!!!!! with steam you can take the time and actually read the posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
