NPC BLOCKING
Devs, can you please look at the NPCs standing around in doorways. I've given some non producing NPCs free roam to create the bustle that they were made for but mostly they seem to just stand in groups blocking doors. One can be shoved away, which is still frustrating, but two just won't budge.

I've currently got two NPCs standing in a doorway that have been there an age. My tool to relocate them is inside in a chest, I may have to knock a hole in my house to get in.

This very much.

You know that you may craft the summon wand to relocate them with just one twig in the backpack?

Hi, of course i do, but why should i wander around using up a storage spot carrying a twig or otherwise run to the nearest bush to get one just to move two AI controlled units from doing bad behaviour? Isn't it better to report it and ask for it to be fixed properly?

Sure it is and i give you that (although reporting on the steam community mostly won't do anything other than .. ermm .. ok .. it's better to report this stuff in Discord).

But as you wrote you may have to dig a hole into your base to enter it, because the npcs are blocking the entrance, i just was thinking about something like hitting my table with the head.

i appreciated the help, just didn't want it to be considered 'a long term solution'. I've never been a huge fan of reporting on Discord, its fine for some games, but for a lot of very popular games often times there's so much spam it gets lost. Bug/suggestion reporting portals are also a mixed bag in my experience, often more PR than a real tool. but I'll get off my ass this time and drop it in Discord.

Yeah I have 3 stuck in a door and the huntress refuses to move of a bed. I have to keep moving them with the staff

I made a separate house for the blacksmith. I put his bed, and all of his tools in his house with him. I let him wander thinking he might go smell the flowers while tooling about his shop. No. Every day, he comes over to MY HOUSE and stands his stupid ass in MY FOYER

That was the last and only straw for that experiment. After that no NPC gets to wander. They get parked and sit in their little crap shacks like the peons they are. My house, your house, stay in your house.

my answer to NPCs blocking doorways was creating double-wide doorways. no more blocking and they seem to pathfind way better. Obviously this solution will depend on if you're ok with the aesthetic of double-wide doors. Alternative to that, just delete the wall.

HAHAHAHAH....so true. have you been driven to construct a detainment facility yet?
it's sorta...floating around in the back of my head...I'm not there yet but oooooh Polaris falls has an awfully nice prison.

I am planning something, yeah. Not sure which material but I think I am going to dig down as far as I can so that they can never escape The Pit™

I love that if you keep them on a short leash, they can't reach their beds, so they just sleep on the floor as close as they can get. Lol. But yeah, initially the wander was cool, but they keep disappearing and I have to resummon them, or I can't find them and have to look for them, so they're going back on non wander mode for now. I have not had the doorway issue, though. Maybe for folks who like the wander, they can construct rooms with multiple doorways? or the double wide doors?
you could toss them in a labyrinth with a nice observation deck for taking notes.

I absolutely HATE the NPCs now. I was trying to do a remodel and OMG they kept standing anywhere I was trying to place a wall. Didn't matter if I went to the opposite side, they went too and stood right where I needed to go. I hate them so much. This random roaming thing is so freaking stupid and horrible!!!!!! I really hope that the devs can make it so you can toggle off the roaming. I'm thinking of making individual little 4 wall "houses" for them with no windows or doors...

My problem is less with them standing in doorways and more about them vanishing, i have no idea why, i summon them in the middle of the settlement, wander set to 30m, the blacksmith is the only one around, i found the alchemist in the bathroom almost stuck inside a wall, i guess he was playing hide and seek with his cat because that damn cat vanishes all the time too, which is good cat AI, very lifelike hehehe.

If you want to leave them on wander and stay sane, I recommend making second floor entries to your houses, accessed via grappling hooks. Hell, just connect your entire base via swinging points and grapple points and forget about something as mundane as walking on the ground.
