Does loot still respawn in chests?
When i last played this game at release there was this ridiculous bug (feature?) where loot in chests would just re spawn when you logged back on. I found this really destroyed the feel of the game and just made it feel cheap in a survival game like this. Has this been fixed or is it still in the game? Want to know before i waste time re downloading

It's not a bug, it's a feature. If you play in a group, everyone should have a chance to get a nice item from a certain chest. Some people enjoy farming chests over and over. And there are those who lack some self control and exploit the system and then say "Please devs take the cake out of the fridge, because if I know it's there I HAVE TO eat it."

it is simple.... just not abuse it. It feels totally fine, if you pick up some chests on a way to point XY again. If you need to farm another level and open chests again, kill bosses again... where is the problem?

The full "everything but the base resets" is the best thing i have seen in a long time in games like this.

If such a tiny thing disrupts your game expirience, i feel sorry for it, but it is simple to ignore. Don't abuse it and its fine...

Just found this out in game, ruined it for me.

There isn't really an easy way around it. Multiplayer is one of the main reasons, but also most chests roll dice on a loot table so if you're unlucky you end up with very bad weapons and no way to get better ones after you opened all the chests. Also some items are quest specific and if you lose them and can't get replacements you end up stuck in quests. There would have to be made a LOT of changes to how the game currently works in order to please the people who prefer world persistence.
Technically I would be one of those, but currently cheese-farming the obsidian block chest is the only sane way to get obsidian blocks because they would otherwise require insane amounts of silver that are impossible to obtain without ending up in a psych clinic. So better leave things as they are at least for the foreseeable future XD

Hey, crack baby: you can always just NOT OPEN CHESTS MORE THAN ONCE. The level of stupidity from players these days is simply unbelievable. :steamfacepalm:

The ONLY logical train of thought they could have is that each chest only contains one specific item so it should only have to be opened once. I can't imagine any other reason that makes sense that you would be upset you could open chest multiple times for RANDOMIZED loot. How else would that system work? Otherwise you just wouldnt get specific items?

While I generally agree with both of you, I do have to say something in OPs defense:
I do VERY thorough exploration, Pikemead took me a few hours for example, I check most corners multiple times to make sure I haven't missed anything and also because cities like Pikemead and Kelvin, where everything is connected in multiple ways, make me lose orientation easily.
Therefore, open chests and open doors are my hints that I have been at a specific spot already. If I log off inbetween (I think it also even happened when I was just back in my base for apparently too long) and everything's reset, I don't know where I've been already anymore. Same thing with many other places, where you might have cleared the fog on the map by walking through some tunnel and later can't remember if you have been at some upstairs locations already, or vice versa.
And it also really does leave you with a feeling that everything you do is rather pointless if everything just resets.

So while I still agree that how it currently works is the only way it makes sense for how the game is designed, I also understand how that can take motivation to play the game from you. I struggled with the missing world persistence too in the beginning.

Lmao, so all the map markers that show where you have been? no clues there no?

The portion of the map revealed through walking around is quite large. And when you're walking through very large places with multiple levels or tiers it becomes difficult to see where you've been. So no. The map wouldn't help you there.

I'm not a fan of this either. At the very least it should be an option in the difficulty menu. I also don't like how the exact same NPCs respawn in the exact same locations. There is no "clearing the map", making it feel very much like Groundhog Day. At least in Skyrim, different bandits would move into a camp / bridge / area, and that after a decent period of time. One of the main reasons I prefer single player over MMOs is the sense of "clearing the map". I was hoping to escape the MMO "the world is an amusement park where every ride resets over and over" atmosphere.

I agree but I do not mind mobs/chests spawning but make it a while.... HOWEVER. terrain respawning outside your altar is terrible.
