The full "everything but the base resets" is the best thing i have seen in a long time in games like this.
If such a tiny thing disrupts your game expirience, i feel sorry for it, but it is simple to ignore. Don't abuse it and its fine...
Technically I would be one of those, but currently cheese-farming the obsidian block chest is the only sane way to get obsidian blocks because they would otherwise require insane amounts of silver that are impossible to obtain without ending up in a psych clinic. So better leave things as they are at least for the foreseeable future XD
The ONLY logical train of thought they could have is that each chest only contains one specific item so it should only have to be opened once. I can't imagine any other reason that makes sense that you would be upset you could open chest multiple times for RANDOMIZED loot. How else would that system work? Otherwise you just wouldnt get specific items?
I do VERY thorough exploration, Pikemead took me a few hours for example, I check most corners multiple times to make sure I haven't missed anything and also because cities like Pikemead and Kelvin, where everything is connected in multiple ways, make me lose orientation easily.
Therefore, open chests and open doors are my hints that I have been at a specific spot already. If I log off inbetween (I think it also even happened when I was just back in my base for apparently too long) and everything's reset, I don't know where I've been already anymore. Same thing with many other places, where you might have cleared the fog on the map by walking through some tunnel and later can't remember if you have been at some upstairs locations already, or vice versa.
And it also really does leave you with a feeling that everything you do is rather pointless if everything just resets.
So while I still agree that how it currently works is the only way it makes sense for how the game is designed, I also understand how that can take motivation to play the game from you. I struggled with the missing world persistence too in the beginning.
Lmao, so all the map markers that show where you have been? no clues there no?
The portion of the map revealed through walking around is quite large. And when you're walking through very large places with multiple levels or tiers it becomes difficult to see where you've been. So no. The map wouldn't help you there.
