I'm getting tired of the whole animal taming, resurecting town folks thing
I didn't mind it at first and was ok with being forced to tame one goat and resurrect one assistant just to get introduced to the options. But locking the altar upgrade behind hours of this turned it, for me, into monotony. I did not want to do all this building on my base to accommodate all the beds and all the people wandering around my little farm. It's too much. It should have been made an option for those who are into that. I love Enshrouded, but I'm burnt on all this now and off to play another game for awhile.

all the bugs with the animals and NPCs burnt me out as well. time to wait until this part improves.

the animal training mechanic is tragically stupid. After trying that cat taming once, the entire mechanic will be removed with mods in future, if that's not possible then the game is off the list.
Just what a perspective customer wants to see. Devs who are too blind to see players don't like it when you waste their time with stupid bs.

Cats server no purpose though, you can just ignore it....

Have had no issues, most set movement radius to zero assign a bed and done.

Because a couple of months back 0,5% people of the 3 milion playerbase voted for farm animals and villagers
And now everyone has to milk the goats, shave the yaks, and do ♥♥♥♥ with villagers

Yea.. im going to finish my mountain base and put this game on the shellfs

You got any sources on that or is it just exaggeration for effect? This isn't an attack, i haven't kept up with development so i'm curious is all.

If they voted and won how is it .05% of the player base

Better potions from Frizzy Goats, better armour and food from Yaks, +25 Health from stroking de ♥♥♥♥♥/dog - I get super lag, with NPC's walking about my base, so I am going to build them their own village/town, away from my main industry. Animals can starve... and live - It can be worked around, it just may take a little time.

personally i enjoy the taming and peeps. And btw WAY more people than .5% voted for it. But keep complaining since its a feature that takes 5 minutes to build a mini bunker place 10 beds in it let alone if your playing with friends it may take even less. Working is hard. OP literally just complaining for 0 reason imo. Deal with the feature most people that play this wanted or dont, the choice is yours.

Yoo.. exactly my thoughts! I don't want to have more than 1 big base.

So Im going to build a PRISON for all those USELESS NPC's that do not contribute ANYTHING to my experience. They don't farm for me, tend to animals or even help me fight. Yet Upgrading FIRE requires the NPC's to have sheltered BED. What's gonna be next? City Management Update? Micro-managing a settlement ?

I don't want that in my action/survival/crafting game....

After reading a few of the replies, I'd like to clarify my post. I am all for adding NPCs (farm animals, assistants, etc.) that we can place on our bases. They are all great.
My issue is implementing the npcs in a way where it impedes progression of the new content, and the new map. Enshrouded seems to rely on temporarily placing an altar in a new area to both allow you to return there easily without having to rerun areas you have already explored, and to allow you to set up temporary bases to store potions and food and to repair gear to keep progressing in the new area. I'm a week into the new update and still can't spend more than 12 minutes in the freezing zone. I am constantly having to run back out or teleport back to my main base and then make my way back to try another short run in when dropping an altar has been the solution in Enshrouded prior to this. The bugs don't help, as I rescued three more assistants and villagers last night, but the altar still shows 6/10, no progress. I've got plenty of wool and have refined it in the new spinning wheel, but the Hunter thinks I don't have the new wheel yet. I thought it was because of the damn dog, so I spent the time getting the dog, but no change in the Hunter. I would have liked to see where rescuing NPCs unlocks new crafting items, but is separate from the progression of the game. It doesn't feel that way. It feels like a hindrance. Again, I love the game. Forcing us to unlock every npc and build beds and roofs for everyone of them to get the next altar upgrade, not so much.
Personally I haven't had an issue with this. The villagers are probably less demanding than Fallout 4's settlers, and if you have a problem with them getting lost or stuck you can just set their roaming range to 0 and keep them in your basement. They are also free to resummon anytime with no consequences, and taking the few extra seconds to resummon NPCs is hardly an inconvenience compared to spending 10 minutes just to dig up 40 silver or growing 40 of a plant that you only find 3 of on an entire mountain.

The only time animal taming got annoying is with the cat in the alchemist's tower and the Yak/Goats because you essentially have to kill all nearby predators, then cull half of the herd to split them and prevent them from eating each other's food. You need to repeat the minigame 3 times and even then they sometimes bug out and lose progress or the ? phase of the game loops infinitely.
I wish there was a better way to keep the animals from roaming and to pick up their loot, though.

i dont have a problem with these things BUT.. the item system is garbage, enemies not well thought out/boring and very repetitive and the perk system is not the greatest. Nothing wrong with adding cool stuff but the focus really needs to be on those three things. Its such a great game and its unfortunate they are adding craptastic stuff like music and farming before they get the core game right.

Petting your cat gives you +25 health for 30 minutes and petting your dog gives you 25 health for 30 minutes.

So an extra 50 health for 30 min.

Every bit helps!
