Gentian

I'm planting Gentian, one of the new herbs, in an appropriate area, and it's growing just fine. If I use the terrain tool to create a better, more level, area, it tells me unsuitable area. I'm using the soil from the same area.
Is there any way to change the terrain and still to be able to grow Gentian? I'm having the same issue with Wolfbane. I do *not* have this issue with Pumpkins. I can grow them on my new garden area.

You need either farming soil or fertilized farming soil. I use fertilized soil for the seedlings only, as it takes nitrate to make which is another whole crafting requirement with the alchemist. The Farmer makes them. Yes, pumpkins grow anywhere.

Thanks! That works great! Now I can have a nice neat farm. I didn't think to replace the soil with an advanced soil!
