SOLVED! Damned Dragon won't die!
SOLVED! Mined into a mountainside (west of entry point), outside the ring and ranged it from there :steamhappy:

Is this an issue? I hardly seem to be able to damage this dragon on my own. I have now perished by it's flame at least 50 times (maybe more) before I got bored. In the process I caned a serious-ton of good potions and resources just so I could watch my character fry.

The way it looks to me, is that even Max' (16?) players, they will all share the same fate as I.

Why do we not have any protection? Fire would be a nice start, especially since we are said to be "Flame-born" - Compared to all other Boss's, this one seems impossible. Is there a Class that is more fire resistant? Is the fire "Magic" damage? Hmm, things to test... Melee seems useless and even with turning the Boss' power and health down all the way, I was still toasted using Range and exploding arrows - I have tried to block against its laser flame, with zero success... Toast!

Hat's off to anyone who has brought this thing down to even 1/10 health, but is that even possible when going Solo? I spend most of the time running away from it's onslaught of multiple attacks - Fun for a bit but I'm bored now, it's seems like a "stall", because it's really not possible to beat, even though you get a message that says it is... I only have one other buddy I know that plays so I hope this can eventually be sorted for single players instead of forcing us to group up. If anyone has a strategy, please please let me know - I do know that one point can be hidden behind, but even behind it, we can become toast. lol - Great game so far but that damned Dragon won't die!!!

Ok, thanks :steamhappy: I did look for such a topic :/

The Dragon is a total BS. Constant AOE, wind attacks that can push you away to the death, fire breath that STUNS you and deal massive damage, Wands cannot reach him, melee solo is impossible...

I even lowered the difficulty to MINIMUM and still died to his BS moves. At times there is no "safe" area to stand... Either he leaves blobs of fire or has a homing laser breath that chases you. I used fireball at him ( because Ice magic he resists ) run around dodging stuff, then one fireball... only after 10 minutes of scratching his "underbelly" to die. Over and over again.

I mean... either they designed it for GROUP play or they expect you to respec for archer with stun arrows or mage.

Either way really bad experience.

I mean...the tip says to either parry his "blobs" (does lots of stun damage) or shoot him with stun arrows. And everyone can equip a bow and use stun arrows. Everyone can also equip a shield. Though yes, he is very hard to beat. And even more so when solo.

You either have stun arrows or you will need a shield to parry and throw back the lava balls.
If you parry the lava balls while aiming at the dragon they will be reflected back at it and will stun it after a few hits.
Once the dragon is stunned it falls on the platform and takes massive damage.
This fight is very much solo-able by any build.

if i wanted to play a soulslike game i would play one of those.

i hate instant death mechanics. they went way overboard with that stupid dragon.

i could get over it if the fight would be in an arena like with the first dragon. but this fight also includes a tiny area where i not only have to avoid the attacks but also watch that i don't fall to my death.

i tried fighting that thing a couple hours using stun arrows.

i tried using the "cheat" method where you stand on one of the cliff sides so the dragons attacks can't reach you. after 500 arrows and the dragons health at about 10% i died of hypothermia :P

i lowered the boss health/attack etc. to the minimum of 25% in the options. didn't change a thing. i am guessing the sliders do not work properly (like the resource sliders only working for some resources).

i decided i couldn't be bothered anymore and used a trainer with unlimited health.

Thanks for the suggestions but a friend and I, managed to Mine into one of the mountain sides outside the ring and ranged it from a hole - My "Parry" has always been a bit touch and go, so using that is not realistic for me as I seem to be able to parry, only about 1 in 10, and thus, instant death, lol - GOOD LUCK! :steamhappy:

I don't wish to tell you how to beat the boss, but this youtuber found a safe spot on the cliff with no mining needed, and I have used it multiple times and beat the boss so I can vouch for the spot too.
If you want to see the spot as well, he shows it off at about the 9min mark.

oh yeah sure... 0.1 % players actually got the achivement including me. So VERY much doesn't sound "frequent".

If you want to go by steam achivements. 1% have "harvested every valeable material" in the mountains, 0.2% have killed the dragon -> 20% of those who played more than a bit in the mountains have killed the dragon.

The only aspect annoying me is that you HAVE to use stun arrows no matter which class you are and thats pretty much the only way. Its a bit tedious, takes some time but its basically not that hard. All the mechanics are pretty easy to dodge and if you get set on fire just use a bandage. This boss isnt broken by any means.

If you look at the Youtube video that Grad referred to, you'll find you don't have to use stun arrows. The You Tuber in the video uses fireballs for attack and eternal lightning to break the stun bar. It's only a 15 minute video in which he demonstrates the technique, and ofc you can skip through.

Dont really get the maths how he is dealing so much stagger damage with eternal lightning. I was running nearly the same stuff and it didnt do SHT

He's a bit of a pain in the ass but it's possible to solo him, I did it with a bow(no stun arrows, just whittled him down with steel arrows). His breath attacks can be dodged. When he does one from the edge of the arena (the one where he sweeps it in an arc) you can just double jump over it. When he's in the center of the arena and slowly turning in a circle, you can keep ahead of it by gliding in short arcs around the platform. If you get knocked off by his wind attacks, there are updrafts around the arena you can catch to get you back onto the platform.

It's nice bonus damage if you can stun him. The vultures that spawn you don't have to really bother with, you can kite them and eventually the dragon will end up killing them when he does a breath attack.

You, littlerobotfish, are a grand master at the game! That is insane tactics, and I thought I tried it all, haha - Hat's off to you for sure!
