The developers should be ashamed of the terrible final boss fight
Players who haven't reached this absolute disaster shouldn't worry. There's nothing to spoil. Spoiling implies I'm ruining something that people could have enjoyed.

The entire "mechanic" is to stun the boss. Stun arrows and lightning attacks are lucky if they even get 5% of his stun down with a single hit, if they ever manage to hit his awful hitbox. The alternative is to parry the flaming rocks attack, but even then they miss the boss' hitbox more often than they don't, and even if they do hit the boss they deal about 30% of his stun bar, so you'd need to parry at least 3 every time he does the move... every 5 minutes?

If you manage to stun the boss, often he will fall right on top of you, which will either push you into deadly shroud or force you to fly up and struggle to reach him, wasting half of the stun window, and once you reach him, you will inevitably miss half of your attacks because of how terrible hit hitbox is, and then hopefully somehow deal more than 10% of his health in damage. Now to repeat this at least 3 more times depending on how close you were to the boss and how much damage you have!

Now don't get too excited. Just because you managed to stun him once doesn't mean you will do it again. As soon as he gets up, he will use a stunning flaming attack on you and summon a bunch of annoying flying enemies. I hope you can quickly kill them with explosive arrows or magic, otherwise you will have to fly back and forth between ends of the arena and hope he doesn't land a single attack on you.

The boss damage is excessive and depends on your maximum health. If you get shroud fire for longer than 2 seconds, if you walk, jump or even fly over a flaming puddle, you're already dead. It doesn't matter how tanky you are, you will die as fast with a full tank build as a full glass cannon build. The more health you have, the worse it is, because your healing will actually recover your missing health slower.

Beating this boss doesn't feel like an accomplishment, it is just hollow, because if the boss wouldn't instantly kill you with random attacks regardless of whether you have 200 health or 2000, he would just be a 20 minute test of patience.

turn down difficulty and he drops easier than the first boss

Sir this is a thread about a terrible boss, not about how he's "easy" if you give yourself 4x more damage, hide behind a mountain and shoot 400 arrows at him.

i did him solo with 100% settings, just speaking for you "casuals" that whine about stuff that is supposed to be done in groups.

If you are a "casual" and want to solo him, turn down the settings for this boss fight. and you dont need more than 2 craftings of stun arrows. no need to master the fireball parry

also this :

"Beating this boss doesn't feel like an accomplishment"

the blatant lie. you didnt slay him or you wouldnt complain here. If he is that hard as you make him than that makes the satisfaction of beating him even greater.

His mechanics arent perfected but he is not supposed to be easy like the others.

Learn to die, many players here need to hear this more often. game is not bad because you died one time.

There is no final boss fight, as there is no final boss, as game is far from at its final end yet.

Exactly, imagine how the ancient one boss will be like? That castle in the sky is his, maybe even the temples that are closed for now might have a boss in it, i hope so, this game needs more bosses.
its just a youngling... in early access. Pretty good appetizer if you ask me.

I was gonna say..... I don't think that's the final boss, I think that's just what they have finished so far.

There is no final boss fight in the game , the game isn't finished.

I main sword and shield, solo play, beaten it 6 or 7 times already, so what's the problem? Sounds more like a lack of learning the mechanics, not preparing properly, possibly being way too under geared. I use default settings of 100% on everything in terms of HP, damage etc.
I love how half of this thread is just people dropping in to proclaim their superiority to other players. Just FYI I have 100%ed this game several times over, even on hard settings. I have had 100% achievements ever since a few days of them coming out.

But no, because people want to feel superior to others, there is no way I am allowed to dislike, complain or criticize something about this game without people automatically assuming I am just bad at the game.

People like you are the reason gaming sucks right now.

there has to be something challenging in games, if everything dies instantly without any effort why would you even play the game?
Learn the mechanics and beat the boss, you have to do it only once.

stop lieing , my god.

No one who would have completed this game "several times" would complain like you about the things you do. It makes no sense , stop lieing.

true story is probably you tried to kill him solo two three times without beeing prepared enough then you ragequitted and wrote this rant post.

I've completed the game several times, and I agree with many things that the OP says.

I recently defeated the dragon playing with no fast travel, which is not an easy feat.

The problem with the dragon, which is really the basis for much of these pissing contests is that the experience is drastically different depending on how you're equipped / skilled. Try to defeat it with a pure melee build, and it's going to be MUCH harder than a bow specialist.

Sure, you can re-skill and re-equip, but that shouldn't be necessary IMO.

Pretty much every aspect of the combat that makes is challenging is negated by simply re-skilling as an archer.

Well said.
And congrats on finishing it again with no fast travel. That in particular is really impressive!!
