I've found several Epic-level weapons with 4 upgrades, but none have required anything except regular runes. I suppose that much come later on, which begs the question why they come so early.
It seems like they've introduced several sequencing issues this update. The most obvious one that I found is the starter armor requiring a banshee drop, which you really don't want to fight that early in the game.
The game tries to push you to get the carpenter just after that as well, but I knew how hard that was, so I put it off, and I think they made it even harder. I also got drops there that I haven't figured out how to use yet.
I think a new player that drops into that first room in the carpenter hall with half a set of armor and a starter weapon is going to be quite surprised!
Why? Doesn't that just add extra button clicks and yet another item to lug around?
There has to be some other use than that. Right?
we can only hope these are just first signs of the devs actually starting to address the games biggest weakspot.
Either it's game bugs, or my save is bugged. Contrary to the update notes I have 8 weapons from before the update that have a gem slot. I have two "Sword of the serpent" swords from before with identical stats, except one has a gem slot. I found a higher tier legendary Ritual Tempest wand this morning, so I salvaged the old one and upgraded the new one. That old one is back in my box now.
I started a new save, so I'm not re-farming anything. I don't see the point in trying to justify it for old saves.
Maybe I should just do whatever the game wants me to do to make a gem. It just seems pointless at this point, until I find a good legendary weapon that I want to keep for a while.
"Weapons of higher rarity now have a chance for a gem slot (Note: This does not apply retroactively to weapons acquired before Update 6.)"
One nice feature of the gems is that you can add and remove them from weapons, so if you find a better weapon later you can transfer the gem to that.
A new save probably is the better option, I just didn't want to dedicate the time to a full playthrough right now.
The rarity determines how many extra lines of stats you get from enhancing the weapon. up to a maximum of 5 on Legendary rarity.
Weapons prior to the update do not receive the benefit of the gem slot.
Weapons since the update have had their stats from enhancing merged together (sometimes changed) across 4 lines and the 5th line is for the gem slot (for Legendary rarity). This is why the old weapons are not compatible with the new gem system.
Under the new mechanics, some enhancements require regular runes only, while other enhancements require both regular and legendary runes.
As noted, you get a recipe to convert regular runes into legendary ones. 25 regular to make 1 legendary.
You need a good amount of legendary runes per enhancement, at least for a level 35 legendary weapon, where I'm currently at in game. Not sure what costs are like for lower level and rarity weapons weapons.
Legendary runes don't drop by the boat load, which is why the conversion recipe was given.
One of my weapons to enhance from 35 to 40 was 515 regular runes x 5 plus 64 legendary runes x 4.
Only reason I can think of legendary runes being added is possibly as a tie in to adding the gem slot mechanic. Other than that they could of just stuck with regular runes only.
Just explore... There are new items in this expansion. Obviously new legendary items.
I was amazed when i found a substitute to my Staff. Never though it was possible but there it was. Even more when i found a gem that lets me add damage bonus if i aim at my target..
And then i found a substitute bow and a gem for it, who knew!?
Guys really just explore and let yourself's be surprised.
Btw atm am looking for a substitute wand, i am sure they are out there.
Happy hunting Flameborns
That has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.
Yeah you must be correct, i may have miss read...
you dont get the good stuff by exploreing sadly. there are no new weapons in this update. atleast not at level 35.
Not to mention the devs finally fixed the lightning wands, no more slow motion lightning hehehe, its good now.
Yes, there are...
