I also noticed it with wolves at the start.
The early game (so far) seems much easier than it was before for a few reasons. Part of it is the lack of mobs, including wolves, and it seems like the weapon upgrades have increased. I'm currently level 4, and am able to 1-shot wolves and many shroud mobs, and 2-shot scavengers.
lairs also have tons of them, more than the roots and wells.
Also playing at MANY setting etc .. now the shroud is empty. Literally not a single enemy.
I have been only building past few weeks and havent ventured out, but after the update, the shroud next to me has been abandoned and there are no enemies .. which i find weird and thats why i decided to build it there .. so kinda ruined my theme
If the shroud was enemies everywhere you wouldnt be able to explore it, at all, game would be only fighting non stop, gotta disagree with OP here, and like Vortex said at night they cluster around those new vapor thingies we can collect.
If the patrols are live .. like shroud spawns 30 enemies and patrol has 30 enemies and going from A to B and B to A back to shroud, hm okay maybe.
But if the patrols are extra spawned outside shroud zones, i dont think that patrols should be on account of shroud enemies .. patrols should not replace enemies inside shroud zones.
Like in my case .. After tomorrow building for 6 hours, which are 3 in game days, still not a single enemy in my shroud zones. And they were there the whole time before the patch for weeks .. now its empty.
I even have nests there which normally spawns enemies when you poke them .. but nope, nothing.
Compared to before, when one group of enemies was like 10-20 enemies and in whole zone, root, town .. there was maybe like 100-150 enemies ..
Now the zones are empty .. barely holding like 5 enemies
Roots, shrouds etc .. empty
That was on MANY
Tried normal .. it was even worse, duh .. they definitely reduced the enemy population by like 80% in my game on maxed out the most amount enemy setting
