Fell Curse
Why?

It's not only a debuff that butchers your ability to stay in the shroud, it's easily afflicted on you, and it is a debuff that persists through death?

I genuinely do not understand why this needed to be added.

The fix for it's not a simple matter either.

This really needs to be a debuff that is cleared on death.

Meh, it's annoying when devs force you to adopt their play style (aka their 'vision of the game). Not everyone enjoys playing iron man mode.

That said, I'm also still not liking the body proportions, artistic vision or not, or the respawn of the shroud roots in single player. Which is why I keep procrastrinating on playing this game again.

It is actually not too hard to gather what you need for the 'antidote' once you figure out what you do need; I suffered from it for some time until I did.

It just adds another danger to the shroud which, for the most part, is nothing more than a timer as opposed to a threat.

Now it requires a bit more preparation on the players part before they begin a long dive in the shroud (like one of the new cave systems).

Same with the new longer debuff for using a shroud spell. Something a player now needs to include in their decision making.

Good that it persists through death. If it did not, everyone would purposely die to clear the debuff, thus nullifying the work put in to add the curses and potions to cure the curses.

If debuffs persist through death, then buffs should persist through death.

I've run into a second buff that's not as obnoxious but still annoying. Hemotoxic. Says it's cured by Antidotes. It infact is not cured by Antidotes, so that's completely misleading and annoying.

Guess I just straight up do not get health regeneration till I can figure out the fix for this stupid debuff.

These long term debuffs are obnoxious.
Where or what is giving you these debuffs? I have yet to get a debuff so I'm kinda curious what is giving it to people?

And I dislike all the timers also lol. You got Shroud and frost. I just want to run around. The shroud timer isn't too bad cause, I think I have it set longer idr what settings say. Thats like 25 minutes but the frost is right around 11 minutes. I don't like shroud AND frost timers overlapping. I just let it kill me cause I'm not swapping more armor out for frost or making food or potions for it. I refuse to do it.

First Debuff I got from -something- in the Shroud, I sitll don't even know what exactly inflicts it.

The Hemotoxin I got in the Revelwood from the stupid poison plants, you can't even fight those damn things without getting poisoned at least once, with how ridiculous their spawns / attack rate are.

Again, Hemotoxic says in the debuff description it should be cured by a "Cleasing Tonic" or an "Antidote" I have used multiple antidotes, antidotes do not get rid of the Debuff

Now apparently the other option is to run around the Revelwood at night collecting moths of all damn things to make the Cleansing tonic. Wee...

These long term buffs do not add to the experience, it's just obnoxious.

I think there should be a slider to turn this stuff off for players who don't want it. The survival mode players can set it to on and knock themselves out, the cozy gamers can set it to off and game more leisurely.
I love some debuff, poison, that sort of thing adds to the game imo, im still waiting for the heat stroke in the desert area like Outward has hehehe, but since they already put so many options in the settings you just have to wait that this one will be there soon.

There is a way to change this. When you select which world save you're going to play in, edit the settings. Scroll down to the Survival settings. Curse Difficulty is the last one right before Resource settings. You can make curses and poisons land more often, less often, or not at all.

I was just going to write this. Its possible to disable it completely in your world settings. I did the moment I read what it does in the patch Notes. I play on a single player/Local server and I tune the game to my settings. That is definitely not one I'd keep.

The shroud is a pain as it is without adding curses that make you run out of time faster in it.. They already have the Red (Lava? Concentrated Shroud?) everywhere. I touch/misstep and its basically insta-death.Plus the Death Shroud fog, plus the normal Enemies, plus the 15 Bugs attacking you at once, Re-spawning Enemies, plus the shroud cloud Bombs, plus the ingredients that can only be farmed in the Shroud, and in limited area's. Lets not forget the time limit you can survive while in the shroud, And they just added a bunch of new enemies to the Shroud area's (which I am happy about)..

Needless to say there is enough to worry about in the shroud without adding curses.

What I would actually love to see is better enemy AI/ Better Combat from enemies.. Like Swarming tactics (the bugs do this already but they are too easily dispatched.)Strategic Maneuvering of groups of enemies to surround you, or Special NAMED MOBS, with higher stats/powers and weapons Like "Shroud Champions", not boss level but slightly below, that have random spawn points within the Shroud Lairs to spice things up a bit.
Nothing like walking through a Dungeon and having something 4 levels higher than you suddenly come running out of the darkness that you weren't planning for.

Random Events is HUGE for replayability.

I could get behind a DOT Poison Bite from the Bug attacks, like make a special Shroud Spider etc, that we actually have to carry anti-venom for to continue exploring/moving forward etc.. But not a curse that persists even after death.. that's not a fun mechanic.

Artificially making the game harder by creating un-fun mechanics that are easily implemented to fill a GAP, or making it more Soul's like is the wrong idea.
Edit: Yes this is the same thing. I'm now permanently afflicted by the Fell Curse. Like all buffs, the fell curse should disappear upon death, the ingredients to make the cure should be hard to get by no so scarce that it feels impossibly grindy. I love this game, but this is very disappointing.

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I genuinely thought this was a bug when I started playing the update... I had 9 minutes of shroud protection, but when I went into blue shroud it instantly went down to 1 minute.

Thought I would ask here while we are talking about it, anyone figured out how to get rid of the curse? it's telling me I need materials, google is telling me there are 2 materials required, but I have them already, but the game is not really leading me to what materials I might be missing - even though online says I have them all, but no way to craft it... so confused.

Thanks in advance.
I just got my first two moths, and I have to say I've never seen something so silly in a game before, and I do love this game. (full transparency I have not yet gotten the affliction)
So you get an affliction that effectively takes you out of action in at-level zones (shroud at your level) until you cure it. Nowhere does the game inform you of what has happened and what to do about it, or whom to go to see to learn more about it. Let's jump to the moths/cure now. Once you learn the cure from the forums/gaming community, you go out and search for these moths. The moth population, as of now, is exceedingly rare, as most are reporting finding between 2 and 4 moths searching over several nights. For me it was also two nights dedicated to looking for moths, and I finally found two. These moths only appear at night, and they are dark. But until you find them, playing the game at level content in the shroud is over. lol I find it both amusing and a bit concerning that the devs did not foresee this as an issue.

You have to go into your manual crafting inventory (on your own person). This threw me off until someone told me because I kept thinking the Alchemist would be the one crafting it.
