What does this exclamation mark mean?

There is an Exclamation mark next to "Essentials" and "Large Magic Chest". What does it mean?

In general, i had taken that to mean that it was needed for a quest (since the exclamation mark in an orange diamond seems to indicate the active quest). It is a bit confusing that there's no indication as to what quest it's required for, though.

Have you tried crafting and using/placing one of the items with that mark?

nope, something new means it has a little yellow square where that exclamation mark is.
The exclamation mark means that it's linked to a quest/progress and won't go away until your craft it .

I also had the same indicator for both grapple points that you can build. I crafted them and the exclamation mark went away. I think it's odd that only certain items have that indicator when they appear in the list. It doesn't really make sense that a grapple point or a chest would be a quest item. I'll have to check and see if I get any XP for crafting those marked items vs some other item that doesn't have an exclamation mark.

Quests and/or Progress*, it is definitely an odd design choice as crafting those item don't rewards you xp (unless said craft progress a quest) and it's not like they are required to progress the game either :/

This is a broken visual feature, has been for a very long time. Still not fixed to this day. I have crafted every item related to a quest and still have items with the exclamation mark on them.

Yep, only goes away when you craft it, annoying for those that have a small OCD hehehe, i usually just make the damn thing and clear the sign.
