Worth buying?
Is the game worth buying if I like games like Valheim, V Rising? Been a while since this has been out, how's it holding up so far? How are the updates and does it offer enough content?

Bought it a few days ago. Feels like Valheim to me. World is pretty massive with enemies and Points of interest everywhere. In my opinion there seems to be alot of content here for an early access game, you can get super involved in just the building alone. Pretty cool being able to make tunnels and build in them. Valheim wouldnt let you do tunnels.

Think they recently just had another big update, they also got a roadmap now posted on steam that shows all the stuff their adding this year. which seemed alot.

I feel like the game was a solid purchase. There is enough content here to justify the price tag in my opinion. They came out of the gate with a pretty good Early Access. Didn't notice anything super buggy. They will be adding more areas, levels, maps, enemies, features, etc

Seems to be going strong just off what I've seen.

That's good to hear. Thank you for your input. Glad it also brings something new to the table in some way.

The quick answer is 'Definitely Yes!' as a fellow Valheim fan. (I haven't played V Rising so I can't comment on that part.) I don't remember what I paid for the game but it would've been well worth it at whatever the full price is.

There is a tonne of content for EA, with well over a 100 quests, a fair size world to explore, and regular updates. I've had a lot of fun both solo and multiplayer. My older son (also a Valheim player) has built us pretty much a castle as a base (NPC's, but no guards or base invasions in this game); my wife has had fun with collecting and having a farm of various animals and quite the garden; and there was a lot for me to explore and uncover on my the map. Over 100 quests easily, lots of lore and artififacts to collect and display (if you like that thing), and the three of us have had fun grouping up doing stuff. That said, everything can be soloed.

There certainly though are some bugs and kinks too, though. The talent trees could use a lot of refining imo - but I am glad that they at least have them and it's a step in the right direction from my view. Melee in particular is too straight forward for many people looking for more that way (a fair criticism imo). And bugs have caused loading and connection problems for some people, and even losing a - but I don't know what % that represents of people as those of us who post here are a selective sample. (Backing up one's files on occasion is probably a good idea. But that's only if you've invested a bunch of time, and are invested in your character (as I am).

Finally, the amount of customisation that you can do with your world is especially awesome. (Check other threads and the steam page for more info there.)

Hope this helps.
I also play Valheim and this game feels very different to me. Unlike Valheim, you can't mod it or use cheats, and mods are what made Valheim great for me, so that sucks. But Enshrouded has a much nicer player avatar that you can customize a bit, and nicer stuff to build your base with. Also, you can join servers that offer free stuff to speed up progression and make it less grindy, if you don't mind being a cheaty mccheaterson like me. In short, I had my doubts, but I'm enjoying both games for different reasons. Valheim feels more open and free, definitely. But I'm all about building and decorating, and Enshrouded has better looking options.

It does look like the building system is more fleshed out here, which I absolutely like, graphics and style is a plus too.
so as far as a crafting game goes it's great as there are npc's and lots of quests to do. makes the game feel well rounded.... but it's still early access and has all the game breaking issues you'd expect from an alpha game with a retail label slapped on it.... game breaking issues are around. I personally can't put down any animals i need resources from without them falling through the ground within a couple minutes. also it's early access so by default you don't know if they'll pull a rust or not (rust was originally a zombie survival game that they then removed the core feature the zombies. the exact feature many bought the game for) rust is why i tend to stay away from early access titles... this game shows promise but i wouldn't buy it unless it was severely discounted from their current msrp as it is early access... like 10-15 for the purchase is what i'd say... I definitely wouldn't pay more than 20 for it currently.

Also, it's pretty obvious that it's in a pretty great state given it's in EA, and has kinda came a long way since its release, no?

Depends game itself is very good but you can set many difficulty aspect so it get bored rly fast becouse why play on harder seetings without reward? Another thing is relog simulator, you need to put altar near gold chest and log, log, log, log, log, after this you had every item you want, there is plenty info on internet where to go for it, so it kills sense of play ;) If this game has been MMO then yes i could recommended it, but now only if you like build.

Hey, now that I think of it, valheim+v rising is a very good description of this game...
Same quality of early access status, too!
Im at 60 hours, and it seems I haven't even seen half of what's there.
Get this one if you're into those games.

Oh, and get ifsunsets, too.

Yep, kinda like their brainchild, tbh.

Still need more roving bands of monsters. Base raids. More world threat. Of course you can take this too far (looking at you ashland biome). Great base and village building game. Hopefully mod kit will be released once finished. Unlimited alter mod would be fun to experiment with.

Need to take a look at the roadmap itself and see what's what and planned.

If you enjoyed Valheim I'd suggest that you'll probably enjoy Enshrouded. Pretty big map to explore, loads of quests to complete, NPCs to find and recruit (they don't explore with you but enable crafting).

The building system in Enshrouded is also probably the best I've used compared to games such as Valheim, Conan Exiles or Empyrion. It's a voxel based system which enables you to tailor things to exactly how you want them to look.

Combat is decent if not stellar but the game is well balanced and can accommodate a number of different play styles: 2-handed melee, sword and board, magic user, archer, stealthy daggers user - all are effective.

Enshrouded also has a fairly similar food system to Valheim whereby various crafted foods give you substantial buffs for exploring and combat.

Finally, it's worth noting that the game can be completed solo or with friends. In my personal experience playing co-op has been a fairly pain-free experience. Overall I'd say that if you enjoy building, combat & survival games I'd definitely recommend Enshrouded.

yes
Have not regretted buying this game ever - I got it on release + have found the devs have been really good to the player base. I too am a Valheim lover + though they are similar in some aspects they are also very different in many ways. Valheim is a lot more grindier + you really have to work your butt off to get lots of things but the satisfaction is immense when you do. Here the grind is less but the amount of quests probably compensates for that. Was in Valheim last night + still really love it - lucky for me I chose a great survival/builder game for my first venture into the genre. If you get the game please don't try to judge them against each other - Valheim does some things better than Enshrouded + vise versa, just take them for what they are both enjoyable.
