Multiplayer (dedicated server) unplayable
Since the update, and Keen's decision to use a steam network api that routes all traffic through the steam network, this game has become unplayable. Continually disconnects players with a Steam 4001 error within 5 minutes or less of connecting to any server. Discussion on discord has led to nothing.

Are you using an hosting service or doing the dedicated hosting on your machine? Because if you do it on your own machine (like i do) it will works regardless of the steam network without issues (just configure it correctly).

Is there a configuration change to be made? The game (and server) have been running just fine before the update. I haven't seen anything about config changes on the discord. But I do see a lot of people calling out the huge jump in latency and confirming connection problems on dedicated servers (not hosted servers)

Done the usual, port forw, excluded the service on the antivirus firewall, and put in the IP i have on my PC on the "server IP" codeline (so both LAN and WAN is enabled to join on the server)

With that, started the server DIRECTLY from the .exe dedicated server executable.. and it can run without STEAM (only required if you are playing too ofc).

Some change in the past six months or so made it impossible to connect to the dedicated server I was running. It worked fine before, as it was soon after release when I made one.

I could see it using Steam, but could not connect. Using the client, I could not even see it.

No problem though. The 3 other players I used to play it with are no longer interested and it's easy to convert it to a single player game.

Edited note: I can also run an Ark Survival Evolved dedicated server just fine (the original version, not ASA, which I refuse to play until it's possible to import ASE dedicated servers into ASA. Yeah, I know that will never happen. )

My point is that something is seriously wrong with Enshrouded dedicated servers now that did not exist before, which I suspect might be caused because I have Windows 10 not 11.

I connected directly over my local LAN before the patch. Sub 10ms latency. Now it goes out, hits Steam and comes back in. Adds 150ms to my ping at best, and goes up as high as 500ms. Lots of warping and disappearing/reappearing players and NPCs.
same too.
yeah the update they did jacked it hard. we didn't have an issue at all w/ the game but out in the desert area. now we lag all over the place. did everything to reduce the issue. Use Gportal. We love this game so much, but w/ a lag like that and stutter, we won't be able to continue the support.
My friend and I are getting stutters as well, on a gportal server. Seems to be more so in the Revelwood area so far (haven't got beyond that area yet after starting a new game). When last we played back mid year 2024 on a gportal server, it was fine.
