If you want to keep a terrain modified you'll need a flame altar near and the modified terrain must be inside the AoE.
There was nothing broken about what you have described to begin with, so there is nothing to be fixed.
This.

This isn't other games, this is Enshrouded and nothing is broken except your expectations.
Yep, and resource collection would quickly become a nightmare in his "unbroken" version, especially for those of us addicted to building.
And all games have to be identical and do things the same way?
Personally, I like the world reset with the stable building areas around the altars so much that I would like to see the same thing for other titles I play.
Are we going to make all the games the same until we run out of choice and variety? And what variant will that be, yours, mine, other players with different tastes?
Have fun! ;-)
You don't have to explain yourself - we already got you.
only having to load a few chunks that has custom terrain data saves a lot of data and PC performance. this is also why there is no water, water physics in these games kills performance.
What a Turkey, well out of season.
