Game has been running flawlesly since EA started though, might be just a hiccup.
Don't worry, from my experience this developer is on it and will patch any issues promptly. See if you can open a ticket with your issue so it might be fixed sooner.
That or wait a couple of days.
On a side note...always a chance Windows updates are breaking stuff.....again.....
If nerfing draw distance is the answer to performance, I sure hope they make it an option in the graphics settings, because I'd rather lose a few frames than my view of the world. Of course when both performance AND visuals take a dive, then something is REALLY wrong!
That's usually where the problem is, lower end computers, not knowing how to adjust all of their settings for best performance, running too much stuff in the background, have a virus slowing things down, also it's Wednesday which is typically update day for Windows which can slow things down.
Thankfully I can enjoy the game the half of the time when this problem isn't rearing its ugly head.
Ladders don't match anymore one ove other, jumping while carring any tool (hammers, pickaxes, axes...) Forced to change another item no-construction.
Why?
That means nothing if you haven't chosen the proper settings. Not just the game settings, also the ones for your GPU and Windows settings related to graphics and performance. Lots of people like to run all kinds of unneeded crap in the background which can be a factor. Some players may have viruses on their system and not know it.
Back in the older days over clocking was actually beneficial for gaming, it's not needed in current times, so if their system is overclocked they should turn it off.
Many players I have seen in various games report about poor performance with systems much better than my own yet I am getting far better performance than they are. Players seem to be blinded by thinking they have a beast of a system so want to crank everything as high as possible, doesn't always work that way.
The problem only further gets compounded if they are a streamer running the game and the stream with the same system. I've encountered discussion with those types of players also, going on about performance.
With this most recent update, manny didn't read the patch notes with regards to changes made to the world map and POI's. Heck there was a shader processing circle at bottom left of screen which was due to all the changes made, so ya things are gonna perform not so great at first until the processing was 100% complete.
