1- Don't put beds close each other ( as well as feeding blows ). Leave a lot of room
2- Don't make more beds than the exact number of animals you want.
3- Consider than they can breed up to the bed limit, but it does seem that if beds are wrongly placed ( which means you find animals sleeping on the floor ) this might lead to more animals, since the bed end up not be used ( or, at least, this is what I think happens ).
edit: I'll try to make a scheme down here.
X= unoccupied spaces
O= occupied spaces ( by either bowls or sleeping pads ).

okay thank you. I don't have a space in my farm T__T and they sleep in the ground when no more bed lol
Also, do all goats give milk? I just have the one female goat, and I wondered if there are any male goats out there, or if this is a brave new world that ignores biology.
I think they need to be in same area without separation to have babies + milk
I didn't really check what gender , I just got one normal goat then 2 frizzy goat and they create babies and milks. You can check the milk in their beds and sometimes with the goats itself. They can make a lot of babies , it's crazy lol
You get the first goat( normal around the area where our first base ) with this goat and frezzy goat = normal milk and frizzy milk . I found guide here

My yaks, however, usually got stuck in the barn wall. They got stuck there for such a long time that they lost their connection to their bed. So the game thought the bed was empty and pretty soon I had a yak baby. The guy who got stuck in the wall was now homeless.
I built another barn, basically just a back wall and a roof, nothing where they could get stuck in. But I made the mistake that I placed some haystack decoration too close to the fence. So they climbed on it and escaped. And again lost their connection to their bed. New yak babies.
If you don't want your animals to breed, make sure they have access to their bed anytime, that they can't get stuck in any wall and also have no way to escape their closed area. And never place any extra beds.
