Character/armor models
So, are there any plans to improve character/armor models? Or to allow modders to help with that? I'd rather not play a character that looks like a kid wearing over-sized adult clothes.

Anythings possible
Do these developers even talk to us? I've been spoiled by Space Engineers, where the devs give us showcase videos of what they are working on and what's coming up in the next release. I've not seen anything like this for Enshrouded, but maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

You are Definitely looking in the wrong places, Captain. enshrouded.featureupvote.com is the only place where they accept feedback, although, admittedly, I haven't checked their Discord.

Regarding armour models, I'm not sure what exactly needs improving. There has been a request for female armour, with 368 votes so far, but there's no such thing as a figure-hugging suit of armour, while ranger outfits and wizards' robes are also usually quite loose. Maybe tweaking your FoV slider will make things look better?

Although if you are used to either the long-legged character models in Japanese/Korean games or the buff males in World of Warcraft, the realistic character models of Enshrouded probably look a bit "off".

I didn't catch that it was the same person. Drat, I took the bait and fell in the trap!

Yeah, the post disappeared within a few minutes, so I tried rewording it.

Yeah, I just recently got the first heavy armor for female, and it was so bad that I stopped playing the game for months. That armor with the helmet makes her look like a giant toddler :/ My standards aren't that high, but when I play a fantasy game, I like to look good and that's not a crime

Me too. I just use the dress costume with my female character (I run two characters, one male one female, to experiment with different RPG roles). She's a dagger-wielding sorceress, so the costume works for her role. But yeah, I really miss the variety and diversity of armors, clothing, and costumes from games like Dragon's Dogma, Skyrim, Elder Scrolls Online, etc.
I just tested a hypothesis. Come to find out, if you put a dress on a male character, he has no cleavage at all, so apparently the outfits (at least the dress) are "form fitting". I suspect the reason that most clothes look so flat on the female character is that she's got little "form" to begin with. At least with the dress, there is a noticeable (though not awe-inspiring) different between the male and female character. Stellar Blade this is not! Personally I'm not looking for that, but the female should at least look like an adult rather than a preteen IMO. The new Tomb Raider games did a really good job with Lara Croft - she's still feminine, yet not exaggerated like the 90s version.

I mostly play as the male character, who looks nothing like me (as much as I tried), but he gets the job done. I suppose if we think of everyone as hobbits, Oompa Oompas, Oz peasants, or some other variant of "everyday humans", then the weird proportions can be overlooked.

Nobody's saying that it is a crime. But such things are best left to modders, provided the devs will be able to make the game moddable.

did you try using the cosmetic feature to still use the heavy armor but have it look different? or remove the helmet from showing up but still have the stats? you can have lvl 35 tank armor on and have it look like your wearing starting rags

That's a good idea, but the other armors aren't much better :P Maybe the armors later on look better, but it's clear that the devs didn't really prioritize the models.
You can use ANY armor as cosmetics, not just the one that is for cosmetics! Put on the best armor, it will show you the characteristics, and put on any of your favorite armor as cosmetics on top and it will please your eye )))
People looking for realism should hate the costume option. On the other hand, looking for realism in a game like this is just silly. It's FANTASY in almost every way, including how armor works.

Realism in fantasy games means having characters with realistic body proportions, carrying realistically-sized weapons, without flashy particle effects on attack animations. In that sense, Enshrouded is the epitome of realistic, while Guild Wars 2 is more realistic than New World in terms of weapon proportions and less realistic in particle effects.

Games made in Japan or South Korea often deliberately avoid this kind of realism, with the characters carrying hammers and swords that are bigger than themselves. The worst offender in that sense was the MMORPG "Tera", which had its females wear high heels. What's more, the higher the level of a piece of (female) armour, the skimpier it got... There is even a term for this type of approach to armour design - "chainmail bikini"

I've little impression that realism is a core aesthetic of Enshrouded. What I see tells me they're going for a generic fantasy aesthetic with international kid-appropriate acceptability. No blood, enemies explode into dust when they die, necklines above the collarbone. Aside from the Blacksmith, I mean. Not shaming, but whoever designed his shirtless muscledad look definitely has a type.

To go so tame and inoffensive isn't an unreasonable creative choice, but it is rather bland. It gives you the impression that the people of Embervale are passionless, bloodless, soulless, without vice or temptation.

But, that's what you have to do if you're going for PEGI 7.
