Can we get to the flying islands right now or not yet?
Title!

My gf and I have been eyeing them as our goal and wanted to build our little village on.
Are they accessible already or not? O.o

Thank you!

They are outside of the Early Access area, so no.

Bummer!
Any word as to when we can expect full release then?

I swear that somewhere I read this (2025) is the year, but I can't remember where I read that, nor did it specify when. Usually when a company says 2025, I assume November or December, but who knows, maybe it'll be this summer?

The part of the map outside the playable zone are obviously modeled on a rudimentary scale, so I assume it's the detail work that's currently being finished, along with various quests and lore. If they have a decent-sized team working on this, then it shouldn't take too terribly long to do the finish work.

Yeah... Saying "2025" as a full release date is basically saying "Soon tm".
My gf just spent more than 30 minutes to reach a castle in the mountain that was just empty with nothing to do, no chest. nothing.

I think we're reaching the point where it's a "Wake me up when full release" situation. :shrug

just make your own flying island. can do that right now.

this area might not even exist once the map is fully done. they remoddeled it quiete a bit already before. full release wont be this year if they actually wanna address whats left to address and finish the rest of the map. not realistic given what they released within 1 year is less than whats missing still right now.

it could also be that you cannot even build on this flying island if its something like a final boss zone or dungeon.

You can make your own floating island. I am currently working one myself. Some people have some pretty cool floating island builds if you look it up. You just need 2 free Flame alters to use to start off with. Just place an alter down high up on a hill/mountain, then build a path out from the alter and place your second one down. Once your second alter is down, deactivate the other one. Continue the process of building a path outwards into the sky and placing an alter down and deactivating the other one until you reached where you want to go in the sky.
Some useful answers here, but while we are on the subject of building UP does anyone know how far we can build DOWN? I have an idea to build a mini Hollow Halls retreat for undead Alden, the collector, hidden under a grave in a churchyard. In a flame protected area how far is is safe to do down? Does anyone know?

you will hit a layer of shroud not too far down, it varies from area to area but a mini hollow halls will not fit in most places (unless you are talking really mini mini)

From what I understand, you can go down as far as you can go up.
You should see the yellow border when you hold the build hammer in your hand and that should tell you when to stop (or upgrade your altar).

Edit: that, and what Mush said. I have not tried it myself, but if there is shroud area under everything, that is probably going to be the limiting factor.

IIRC, Flame Alters have a cubic volume for building, right? Which means you'll need a mighty big zone (or multiple Alters) to build a skyscraper or elevator to hades.

Yes with the right Cheat engine table you can get there, although it takes just FOREVER to fly that far out. The towers are a variation on the empty towers you have seen elsewhere and under them is a large crater, presumably from which they rose.

If my level design intuition is not wrong I would expect that they are to be climbed with a series of updrafts (eventually) and hopefully they are part of a patch that includes a LOT more improvements to magic which if we are all honest is nothing more than a flashy gun system right now.

sure would be cool if they added 'floating stone' as in.... it sorta bobs and tilts a bit in the air.

My team mate used two alters, he would build up as high as he could go, run back down deactivate and pick up the first alter then do it over and over, we have a floating spawn point WAY up in the sky cause the stairs built despawned after we pulled up the alters, we made it a big jump platform to fly almost anywhere
