Well, no need to shout
there are ways and means to do it as a melee fighter without having to go into the arena.
On another thread I have already explained how to do this is not the regular way but in this game there are so many ways.

Just gotta parry the rocks it sometimes throws at you. Completely possible without using a ranged weapon, though honestly plinking it with stun arrows really speeds things up.

In the Hobbit, the dwarfs never complained that Smaug cannot be killed by an axe.
Even dwarfs were not that stubborn. They adapted.
They relied on friends using bow and arrow to kill the dragon.

Need to use stun arrows till it is 100% stunned and it will become vulnerable for you to use melee attacks. And need to know how to parry if you're staying on the ground circling the dragon when it does its meteor shower.

I find that too difficult. Whenever I miss the timing, I die instantly. So I stayed at the nearby mountains and spammed steel arrows at the dragon. And focused on not falling off to death. This was the only boss that gave me a hard time in the easiest difficulty setting.

You know that you can adjust hitpoints, damage and some other things in the settings if you struggle with some hard content?

Really you could use a lvl 1 bow its the stun arrows that matter.

Even after I've adjusted everything to the easiest difficulty, the dragon's meteor shower would still 1-hit kill me.

I kept my character low level. Used the non-optimized weapons that I picked up naturally as part of exploration up to this stage.

Still had to use a guide to figure out the last battle.

The stun arrow tip wasn't enough for me. Had to watch a walkthrough.

Its doable with melee but its a pain, you waste a lot of potions, devs should really introduce some armors with elemental resistances for us to find and better prepare for these fights, and the arena being sh-itty was the least of my worries, after getting the dragon to 1/3 of his HP my freezing clock was ending and i had to turn tail and run hehehe.
