Character Creation ... please let's talk about it @Keen

PLEASE, let’s talk about character creation. 💬

If I’m seeing things correctly, a lot of people have already raised complaints about this. Yeah, I’ve been browsing the discussion forums a bit. 👀

1) The characters kind of look like dwarves or hobbits – something about the proportions just feels off: the heads are a bit too big, the limbs are relatively short, and so on. 🐛

2) The character creation options are really limited. A lot of players are wishing for more variety – more colors for hair, skin, and eyes, more hairstyles, etc. 🎨
For example, if you want to give a female character a pretty, youthful face, you’re maybe left with two preset options at best. That’s not exactly a great selection.

3) Many players who play female characters are especially disappointed, because the women in the game just... don’t look very feminine. 🦄

4) People are also asking for a way to change certain aspects of their character later in the game. 💄

Honestly, I don’t get the developers here. For a lot of players, creating their own character is hugely important. The character creator is a major part of any game that includes it. So why are players asking for improvements being met with silence?
Why is this really important part of the game being kept at such a basic level, and why are all the threads on this topic being ignored? 👎

Did you notice there’s actually a well-meaning piece of “advice” going around in the forums? Basically: "Just put a helmet on your character if you don’t want to see their face anymore.” 😮
Even some hardcore fans of the game are saying things like: "If you always wear a helmet and a certain armor set, you kind of get used to the way your character looks… and it’s not **that** bad anymore.”
Seriously? Is that really how fans should be talking about the characters in their / your game? 😶

Come on, you’ve released a great game and you clearly care about the community – so why are you doing the "see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing" act when it comes to something as crucial as the character creator? 🤷

Really not okay, in my opinion. 👽

1. There should be some changes for CC this year.
2. Same as 1
3. Females are basically males if you check the changes in creation .. they did the minimum to make it look like a man. Hopefully this will change with the updates. But what actually bothers me, even when playing at 4K, the CC and inventory menu is like 720p .. very pixelated, no AA etc.

Its easy to understand, its EA .. explains everything. They focused on the important stuff, world and building. Rest should be done later with updates. Check the roadmap.

Improvements are not met with silence. Many stuff that are in the game today is only because of people asking for it ..

The "advice" from others is just current solution until some changes happen.
Game is not really released ..

You keep attacking the developers by saying "see nothing" or silent treatment, its not true.
You are right, its not really okay. And what more, you say you know yet you keep doing it?
How can you keep letting us down like this? You should do, be better

well were not human that is very well known in the lore at this point. Humans are long dead.. or twisted.. But i do agree that the CC is very limited.. More hairstyles and faces and things like that would be nice.. but this game is still in Early accesses.. they got other things to push out other then that. It's not really released fully yet.. They do got a big update coming next month..

1. Disagree. Due to actual references of Dwarves and Hobbits.

2. Having more/better face and hair options would be nice.

3. Seems more like Non-Binary direction here.

4. Like a Magic Mirror with Bedroom/Bathroom versions?

But "we" are not dwarves. We are normal size, about 180cm tall.
HDT hair would be awesome. I am so spoiled by todays time. Even skyrim got HDT in 2013 or so. Would be so awesome to see my hair animate in the wind :)

In the game we are made by two races in a lab of some kind. We are fireborn not human lol.. but HDT hair would be nice ill agree with that lol..

In my opinion it is not okay to attack the devs in this way, nor is this probably the right platform for it. The depths of hell known as Discord are probably more suitable for this kind of thing. But I doubt that you will get any further with this approach, here or there.

I think that sooner or later there will certainly be more character settings, just wait and see. The game is not yet fully released.

Oh and the devs see a lot regarding the communinty. Maybe you don't see that because you focus too much on the character editor and the char itself in the game.

I'm enjoying the hell out of the game as it is myself. I made a male for haha's and shocked im enjoying that to lol. Ether way i agree. I love the lore you find and the world as a whole and There is more to come soon! Like im SO READY for this update lol.

Yeah, they aren't the greatest looking characters, and neither are the clothes and armor...
It is what it is, as they say.

I never play games with odd looking female characters. The men in the game look fine. The women look like cavemen. I understand the game devs have been working hard on this game. Please know, I'm liking the game very much. However, every time I see my character run in her stocky figure, it makes me a little crazy. I'm glad I tried to overlook the female character. I still hope that the body of a female will change very soon, and more unique characteristics are available to allow female players to completely enjoy the game.

It's funny because I actually want to be a dwarf, but it's not quite there.
Also it's really bizarre that you can't reedit your character when there's only one size...like what could having CC redo possibly break?

Animations ..
If you get taller, doors ..
Many things can break and will break ..

Once you make the sliders to auto adjust for everything, its fine .. but creating the sliders, not so easy anymore.

They do mention CC in their roadmap and also if I remember correctly, the new NPC that will help customize our character in-game.

I'm not sure if they will address proportions though. If it's linked to them being forced to also adjust all the equipment because of that, they probably wont. Though they will definitely add more options
