Parachute. Or the Enshrouded equivalent, call it whatever you will.
After almost 200 hours in this game, I must say I really love playing it. A lot of aspects are really well done. A few aspects still need polishing (that's why it's called Early Access) but there is ONE aspect that made me almost ragequit more than a few times: any sort of movement that happens as soon as your Flameborn's feet have left the ground.

Because falling damage in this game is beyond brutal and can be very sudden. Especially when you try to scale or climb something. Movement in Enshrouded tends to be a tad too twitchy for my tastes and more often than not, you find yourself falling, or you simply miss a jump, same difference.

So there you are, trying to scale this more-or-less annoying bit of a jumping puzzle where everything around you except a 3-pixel wide path is just filled with unhappy glowing pink shroud of doom.

Oops, you slipped. What's your reflex? Double jump? Useless. Once the Flameborn is Airborn (see what I did there?), there's no telling where this double jump will take you, especially if you have the misfortune to land on a surface too steeply angled, watch your pretty avatar break into a helpless run that will carry him three miles in the wrong direction.

So the other option you have? The glider of course.

WRONG.

Open that glider and suddenly it's HYPERSPACE SPEED TOWARDS WHO CARES IT'S ALL PINK EVERYWHERE!

So yeah. What's everyone thoughts on a simple device to slow down a fall? Something like a parachute that could be swapped with the glider. Same equipment slot, different use.

Glider = means of transportation.
Parachute = means of not dying of a oops.

Just an idea, like that.

Is the suggestion thingy even still opened? Can we still post things there?

The glider is super OP and can save you from almost everything.
But... You just need to time it correctly.

I understand what you mean but all players were not born with the same skills and reflexes.

So while your brain might go "Oh, I fell. Well, no need to panic. Let's rotate the camera angle, aim for that ledge aaand BOOM. Voilà, five star landing!"

My brain goes "No wait, f***! Stop! NO! STOP! F*******! PLEAAASE! GRAVITY WHY DO YOU FORSAKE ME SO!" [Hold R to Respawn]

There is actually skill that lets you hover, it would be kinda useful if it would work properly.
Sometimes you jump, fall down 20 meters, no damage.
Other time you jump 1 meter from the ground, use the hover skill, you can prolong the time, you fall down .. normally you wouldnt take any damage from this .. and because you stayed in the air for long time, you take fall damage or die ..

A lot of mechanics are unfinished or kinda unfriendly .. hopefully they will fix it or redo them with time

Hmm, I don't think you're gonna have a fun time in the last parts of the Halls then, if you haven't already done that.

Which ones? The first halls? They were outrageously lengthy for very little reward but they were not too bad.

I think it was the last one.
The only way to finish that if you do some sort of Glider Parkour.
One missclick and you have to start over. And yea it's also very lengthy.

Slopes & sliding...
Sometimes when you automatically slide down a 45 degree slope all is good, you slide along with no damage, other times you die from massive fall damage even though the slope you are sliding on has less of an angle.

Just yesterday I slid down a massive grass slope in the highlands for hundreds of meters and all was fine until I got to the bottom where the slope flattened out and then I suddenly received massive fall damage & died?

Also being able to jump (single/double) is hit and miss when you are sliding. I feel there may be a bug in there somewhere.
I know this may not be the most popular opinion around but since day one I've been unhappy with movement in general in this game. It ever felt unreliable, unpredictable and hard to properly control. Scaling a slope can be an absolute nightmare...
