Make an axe, chop down some trees. Voila, wood!
Make a pick, dig up some dirt or rocks. Voila, dirt and stone!
I'm not trying to be rude, just pointing out that I have acquired thousands of stone unintentionally while gathering other materials.
All of that being said, I have seen it mentioned that there are servers out there specifically for collecting materials (I assume they have chests full of everything); you might check them out.
There are quite a few Mall servers out there.
I use them quite frequently for my large scale builds.
There are saves on nexus or you can use cheats, trainers to multiply items .. probably the best options if you want only something, so you can use it on what you want and close it.
Though you first need to find at least one item of what you want to multiply.
With this it actually takes few minutes to get massive amounts of anything as he claims, normally it takes hours
Interestingly, I mentioned a method for acquiring materials with less work later in the same comment... maybe your knee jerked before you finished reading?
It's also worth noting that you can change the settings for a world to adjust how many resources are acquired by mining/logging/etc.
No need to install cheats/hacks to get what you want; there are plenty of settings to accomplish those goals without inviting disaster by running unknown code.
It definitely didnt take you few minutes to gather thousands of items.
Drop multiplier is true, but .. again, read his request. This goes against what he asked for so this suggestion is not smart and .. you are not really trying to help.
You are saying what you want, not what he wants.
Cheats and trainers are not disaster. Running the game itself is running an unknown code. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Using cheats for his needs is faster than your suggestion trying to find and join the public servers is way much more complicated than using trainer.
I just googled it, took me one minute to find free online trainer. It is from a company who does that for a living, it works and no issues.
Search in multiplayer for server named Vault, probably 30 seconds tops.
Has anything and everything a person could want. (Choose join without password and still can connect and grab what your heart desires, resets every hour, top of the hour.)
Trainers no matter where or who hosts them, can lead to disaster, so you are not being entirely truthful yourself. :p
That being said, I have some notes:
1: You can change the world settings at any time; this means you could up the drop rate, harvest your wood/stone/whatever, then set it back to defaults and play "as the developers intended" again afterward.
2: If a first-party company embeds malicious code in their game, they're going to be in a lot of trouble, both legally and financially... if nothing else, Steam would ban the developer for violating the terms of service, but it is also likely they would immediately be buried in hundreds (if not thousands) of lawsuits, and would fold immediately under the enormous financial pressure.
3: Some random dude who made a "trainer" embeds a terminate-and-stay-resident keylogger in it, or some other malware? Good luck even figuring out who he is, never mind finding him when you figure out that he has your banking info... and he just posted political propaganda on all your social media accounts and sent your mom and your boss's wife a picture of his private parts saying they were from you... because you got mad about him buying a PlayStation on your credit card and reported the fraud.
Thinking they break security is like saying Steam breaks security too.
Both needs account, one has trainer under VIP and second one for free.
If you know what you are doing, its okay.
If you dont know what you are doing, it doesnt matter if its trainer or paying bills for your phone, scam is scam and if you let others scam you .. the problem is not a scammer ;)
If you care about security, maybe do some research, eduction .. if someone can get past your password and authentication, again, the scammer is not the problem.
