I thought it was coming to consoles... I don't remember where I saw this, however. If it does, I hope multiplayer is cross-platform like Minecraft and Space Engineers. I'd love to play this with my wife like I can No Man's Sky and those other games!

No. It wouldn't. Not yet anyway. Aka, not while in EA. Do you know how much pain it is to push updates/fixes on consoles? I have had hear devs complain aout it (in other games). It takes a long time and is a bureautic nightmare.
They can port it later. Once the game itself is done.
