Is their a way to remove rock efficiently?
I've started a new base a month ago, and I'm not even half way. The issue is that my base is fully underground. Their so much rock that I can't see even rock anymore. On the moment use the build and remove the build block tot remove the rock, but this goes to slow. I can't enjoy the game this way. In a months time I could only remove a fourth of the rock, can we please get a tool to remove a lot of rock?

I find the explosives work well for this, as well as later upgrades of the pickaxe. not necessarily a direct solution to your issue, but hopefully this info is useful in the meantime if you're really itching to get rock out of the way.
Build a large block e.g. a foundation in the rock and then remove it again, the rock will also be removed.

That is the thing I'm doing right now, but it goes to slow. I need to remove 120x120x120 Altar space of rock, it's just crazy how much rock I need to remove. I'm basically removing a huge mountain in the Mountains biome.

You won't get any rock from this method but this is by far the best method of hollowing out an area either above or below ground. Easy basement building. Love voxel-based games. What size block are you using?

The construction hammer also works directly on terrain. Pick the biggest, fattest shape in the toolbar you can find and start deleting.

The biggest block available in the game. I started to hollow out from above the altar. I've already build the three floors a top of the underground roof, and put some white illuminating stone on the roof. Now I've got light in my underground base, but after the fourth floor. It started to become to repetitive to hollow out the underground base. I pushed the buttons so much that my controllers button broke. I've done a fourth of the 120x120x120 region. The roof is already so high that I become wet from the rain in my base.

This really is the fastest way. I've been carving a genesis cave from Star Trek : Wrath of Kahn.

Select the biggest landscaping (-not- building) block then hit remove. The big flat large rectangle works best for me. You don't need build or place anything first.

I think what you're looking for is something like a drag outline and then delete everything inside. I've seen it done that way in a couple of games, and yes it's much faster than the build biggest block and delete method others have mentioned. But sorry to say, not in this game. Maybe there'll be a mod one day, but who knows we don't even have mod support AFAIK and may never have it. My advice? Crank some tunes you really like and then zone out as you grind your build...
Make sure durablity is off and stamina/ your health set to max 200% mine lot as welll
( since i asume you are building full space>>

underground has many options for building.
how ever alot of the start maps areas have lots of random shrouded patches...
pillars mountain which is actually the whole games current center center map point not
so much near the top

i have chests full of the lands so i never need it....
but here are the best and most fun

explosive arrows (fun and random)

4m glow block: just mine glow ore make 10k blocks.
place down all of the until it says hey you have no room digbat
or this place is not build-able looser. remove them all use 4 meters..
(they fixed the lost blocks so you no longer have to worry about over lap losses)

once you remove them you will have a nice cave.

the other fun method is to build your own air mountain of the edge of 2 other points
1 low one high... most areas it only takes very easy upgraded allters....
each direction can be all 4 ms and 1 row of quarter blocks... ns we
and uses excese land blocks as bridges. then as so get to clean air and air space

just got to make sur you have flight and land space at the edges of the build zone, as well as grapple zones and its not 2 high froma way to get back to it.... although using the telport function is still the best option...

i make a quick drop to ring of rot every so ovveten to quick mine 16 shroud cores...
btw placeing 4 m glow block can act asa area light when building or mining just don't forget to remove the alters of clear enimies first.. even if you have them attacking you off...

I should reiterate here. Under the building hammer, select Terrain / Box 4m. Right click to remove. No placing anything. Just remove, move the selection area, remove, and so on. You can dig out a basement, flatten terrain, whatever you want quite quickly.

Gonna second that 120 cubed is an insane amount to clear. The best method I've found is using the largest ramp shape in the Terrain section and right clicking. 2 of us spent 3 hours and haven't even cleared 20%.

Maybe I should give you an excavator? Be grateful that you can remove blocks, otherwise you would have to swing picks ))))):TrollGerka:
