Do I need to carry all the keys I find/craft around with me in the inventory?

When I find/get/craft a key ("Key to the Pike", "Revelwoods Bone key", "Nomad Highlands Bone key") do I need to carry them around with me in my inventory for them to work (give access)?
If you do have to have them on you, then perhaps the devs should implement a "Key ring" to save inventory space. (Playing solo, 110+ hours so far)

You only need them when you want to go into a Hallowed Hall, so you should never need more than one on you at a time, and you normally don't have to carry it. Just give yourself an extra minute before you go in one to go back and get the key that you inevitably forgot.
