It would definitely be nice to be able to move things like chests without having to empty them though. I've never been bothered by the NPCs, just ignore them and build. Occasionally they'll fall through a hole in the ground and you'll entomb them or something, but doesn't matter, just resummon them when you're done building.
I have moved the flame before by decommissioning it, then building a new one slightly over. If I recall correctly, it doesn't immediately delete all your buildings on removing the flame, so as long as you replace it right away it's fine.
I don't know what other titles you're talking about, but the building system in this game is the worst I've ever experienced. No Man's Sky is about a 9, but this game is an 11 in comparison, for many of the same reasons.
Gridded, snap fit works okay, since it usually snaps the the right spot, and you don't actually have to see what you're placing. As soon as you go beyond that, though, you have to be in a very limited range of locations, and those locations may not be accessible, or may be off the edge of a cliff into red shroud!
Yeah, that's happened... more than once...
Even if you can get to where you need to be to place the object, there's a good chance that you can't see all that you need to see to place the object properly, so you just place it and hope it's right, delete, rinse and repeat.
Valheim's build system is not perfect, but it's based on selecting the surface that you want the object to attach to, and you can select which surface on the build object it snaps from.
the game is currently the best on the market currently...
you can build almost any cube like structure.
( it also has pre fab furniture which for the most bart and be inside walls frames and alcoves)
they also have prefabs all of which can be single cube modified to some degree
(and if you are top row building only of course its going to take a long time to build/ tear down...
you also don't have to use scaffolds
most of the time i just use the 2m or 4m glow block and make a jump platform.
you only need to mine like 10 glow. then from there you can get 40 glow with 5- 10 minutes mine time
2. you have to parkour quite a bit in the game....
i would advice not build slanted roofs but making parkour and flight decks.. if you want fan use a few cubes...
it still counts as a roof.. ( 3 walls and 2 platform)
if the cave land can be used as a roof
( its time consuming but you can make ground like structures as well cube ground structures..
3. could it use a creative mode?
(so you could rebuild the whole play map)
yes it could.
(but outside the flame alters
once your done... the world is still gonna reset after build placement. and next load in...
to do this properly each of the perimeter markers on the map would have to be a build start / edit access marker( they would be a set size for each one and locked to the area where there are supposed to be like kindle waste will be kindle waste makers)
note they would also have to create a separate tool for the other markers and items
in the world map...
4. could it uses magic building block/ land chest variant chests
yes. so you only have to keep the blocks you want to build in the build chest
then pop the hammer to select them yes but you would still have to put items in the chest...
5. could the prefabs build system use work.
hell yes
a prefab tool and item summon staff would be great. then all you have to do is pop them in a magic chest. use the item staff and select what you want to place. wee...
btw for tthe people you only need a 10x10x2 4m cube to currently house all the peoples.... and place the beds.... you can us pre fabs for this...
but building stylized area is way more fun....
i usually place the assistants in another location lol...
and btw in most build rpgs even with creative mode settings it still take hundred of hours to build a map...
that is never gonna change....
structures its not possible with cubes...
Of course it is... https://donatstudios.com/PixelCircleGenerator
You just need the right scale..
Not that this game is perfect when it comes to construction. I have my complaints, too.
