Building is just awful
Love how much I'm able to do, hate how tedious, frustrating, time consuming, and annoying it is. Some suggestions:

Free cam/building cam mode. Let us just fly around as a little fire whisp thing in first person so we don't have to constantly build scaffolding and adjust it just to get into the one particular position to see what we are are trying to do.

Building storage: Let us just put objects like furniture and beds and fireplaces etc into a temporary storage to just get it out of the way while building

NPC hide/vanish: Make the NPCs vanish to move into some void while we build so they aren't constantly walking over where we're building and screwing things up

Replace material: Let us select a type of block and specify a replacement block type for it as long as we meet the number of units. This would let us fix up old buildings MUCH FASTER because we wouldn't have to pick up each unit of piece and then put it back down in the same spot, such a huge waste of time.

Move objects/crafting stations/flame: Let us just pick stuff up and move it, such as storage chests without having to empty it first and just place it somewhere else within the building area without having to put it into our inventory. Flames should be able to just be picked up and moved around, having to upgrade it to level 4 only to discover that it's just 3 blocks away from covering the intended area seriously sucks, just let us pick it up and move it :/

Having fun with everything else but the building is seriously a drag, spent way too long this weekend trying to fix up this area and I've just given up, now it's ruined me even wanting to play the game at all because I don't have a base that even functions and putting one together is frustrating and tedious and I don't even want to deal with it, but each time I try to play the game I think "I should fix up my base" but when I try to fix it up all this stuff makes me want to scream, so I spend hours and hours and it just death by a thousand frustrating cuts.

I like the flying fire wisp idea

addtionally, let us use our building materials out of chests instead of needing it in our inventory when building.

Huh, I think building is the best part of the game.

It would definitely be nice to be able to move things like chests without having to empty them though. I've never been bothered by the NPCs, just ignore them and build. Occasionally they'll fall through a hole in the ground and you'll entomb them or something, but doesn't matter, just resummon them when you're done building.

I have moved the flame before by decommissioning it, then building a new one slightly over. If I recall correctly, it doesn't immediately delete all your buildings on removing the flame, so as long as you replace it right away it's fine.

Enshrouded has the best building system in the genre. Your ideas are good but saying that this building system is awful is just wrong. Look at other titles, building there is a chore..

round and diagonal wall and stuff would be nice instead of only 4 directional .

The building is imo the worst part of the game.. it feels so clunky and frustrating
You should trying building a real house. Now THAT is tedious, frustrating, and time consuming!
How many dissatisfied people are here, as if there are survival games where construction is better :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

I don't know what other titles you're talking about, but the building system in this game is the worst I've ever experienced. No Man's Sky is about a 9, but this game is an 11 in comparison, for many of the same reasons.

Gridded, snap fit works okay, since it usually snaps the the right spot, and you don't actually have to see what you're placing. As soon as you go beyond that, though, you have to be in a very limited range of locations, and those locations may not be accessible, or may be off the edge of a cliff into red shroud!

Yeah, that's happened... more than once...

Even if you can get to where you need to be to place the object, there's a good chance that you can't see all that you need to see to place the object properly, so you just place it and hope it's right, delete, rinse and repeat.

Valheim's build system is not perfect, but it's based on selecting the surface that you want the object to attach to, and you can select which surface on the build object it snaps from.
I'm not a fan of the building in this game as well. Whenever I rescue an NPC and have to build a house for them, I groan. I always struggle connecting the roof. It doesn't snap into place like it should.

This is a pixel game, you need to get out of the habit of building with blanks, here you can build any wall, smash, floor, ceiling, anything with CUBES! For me personally, this is divine construction, I have not seen this in any survival game!
1. i play alot of build rpgs.
the game is currently the best on the market currently...

you can build almost any cube like structure.
( it also has pre fab furniture which for the most bart and be inside walls frames and alcoves)

they also have prefabs all of which can be single cube modified to some degree
(and if you are top row building only of course its going to take a long time to build/ tear down...

you also don't have to use scaffolds
most of the time i just use the 2m or 4m glow block and make a jump platform.
you only need to mine like 10 glow. then from there you can get 40 glow with 5- 10 minutes mine time

2. you have to parkour quite a bit in the game....
i would advice not build slanted roofs but making parkour and flight decks.. if you want fan use a few cubes...

it still counts as a roof.. ( 3 walls and 2 platform)
if the cave land can be used as a roof

( its time consuming but you can make ground like structures as well cube ground structures..

3. could it use a creative mode?
(so you could rebuild the whole play map)

yes it could.
(but outside the flame alters
once your done... the world is still gonna reset after build placement. and next load in...
to do this properly each of the perimeter markers on the map would have to be a build start / edit access marker( they would be a set size for each one and locked to the area where there are supposed to be like kindle waste will be kindle waste makers)
note they would also have to create a separate tool for the other markers and items
in the world map...

4. could it uses magic building block/ land chest variant chests
yes. so you only have to keep the blocks you want to build in the build chest
then pop the hammer to select them yes but you would still have to put items in the chest...

5. could the prefabs build system use work.
hell yes
a prefab tool and item summon staff would be great. then all you have to do is pop them in a magic chest. use the item staff and select what you want to place. wee...

btw for tthe people you only need a 10x10x2 4m cube to currently house all the peoples.... and place the beds.... you can us pre fabs for this...
but building stylized area is way more fun....
i usually place the assistants in another location lol...

and btw in most build rpgs even with creative mode settings it still take hundred of hours to build a map...
that is never gonna change....
seperate line but stop trying to make symmetrical circle
structures its not possible with cubes...

Of course it is... https://donatstudios.com/PixelCircleGenerator

You just need the right scale..

I actually like using the scaffolds, makes the "under construction" feel more realistic, both from a gameplay and a visual perspective. But I enjoy taking my time and role-playing someone building a house. From my other building games (primarily Space Engineers), I know there are a lot of people who want the fastest, easiest way to slap things together in almost magical fashion - basically a creative mode but inside of the survival game. I guess I just like the challenges of survival creation where you need things like scaffolding to build up high.

Not that this game is perfect when it comes to construction. I have my complaints, too.
