"Open all" for storage chests
I spend way too long hunting through storage chests just to put my items away so that I'm not taking up huge amounts of extra space. V Rising has a method where each different item type has it's own specialized box and you can just press one button to instantly deposit every item in your inventory into said box.

If you'd rather not do that, another option is to simply open all storage chests at once in a single huge window so that we can just deposit every item and it will automatically go into it's stack as to not take up extra room making new stacks in different boxes.

It's really frustrating having to hunt around through 20 boxes because they all look identical and I can't remember where one specific stack of items was, so I either spend 5 minutes just flipping through boxes each trip or I have to spend even more time and energy making even more boxes. Would be really nice to just have a better system.

just make those blue versions and you can put all crafting materials in those and those will be remotely usable on almost all crafting in base area.
then make separate boxes for consumables and weapons etc which you need to hand pick

personally i deposit items to boxes in certain order and press R to deposit everything which can fit on stacks and go to next box and repeat, eventually you will have empty inventory and full stacks on boxes.

A "Fill up stacks to nearby chests" button would be great too.

The problem I'm referring to is that if you have a stack of 2 wood in five different boxes you've taken up 5 slots of space when only 1 slot's worth of space was needed. When you have over 100 different items it makes this problem insurmountable unless you put items in specific boxes so that you completely avoid the situation by keeping things stacked together, so 1 wood stack.

Which means for all 100+ items you'll need to remember which one goes in what box. So you have to open box after box after box hunting for the stack in order to add to it so you don't take up extra space.

That's what I'm talking about. It's annoying and time consuming and there's better solutions to the problem that could be implemented.

100% absolutely another great way to handle this issue.

I'm surprised there isn't some way to label the boxes or put signs up. Soulmask has a way to put items of a certain type into the box specified. Like you can choose for instance, Foods. Then that box will only contain that type of item. I hope they can implement something like that.

Yes, if there were a way to "Sort to boxes" when you're within you home flame area, that would be great. No more running around to each box.

Signs are a planned feature on their roadmap.

I was thinking the same for a while; however, accidentally pressing that would infuriate me to no end.

What I've been doing is only put up to three items per chest and I put a stack of each item in the first three slots since hovering over the chest shows the first three stacks. That way I can preview the items in the chest and it's helped me know where to put things. Of course I have single item chests too for items that I need lots of all of the time. I would love an add to stacks button though. It still takes forever moving stacks at a time.

yeah yeah. more automation. just add infinite inventory at that point seriously. there comes a point to player lazyness where you may aswell not have storage systems at all anymore.

Waste of time for the sake of wasting time.
You should be only able to move 1 item by dragging it to the chest, not a stack, 1 item max.
Sounds like a great improvement for one like you.

youre playing a GAME. you ARE wasting your time by default by doing that. you lot always believe anything that isnt intant gratification is a waste of your precious time. entitlement in a nutshell. and not the way good game design is done.

let say you have 10 boxes on row, you start filling them from left by pressing R then go next to right and press R, continue until your inventory is empty.
there will not be duplicate non full stacks, only after you use some of those there might be some if you use those blue magic ones.

I sort it in 3 types of each item, then I have a easy overlook, some of the stuff I have a lot only 1 item per chest, go up to the chest pres shift + R, sort the chest for what I have in them food, ammo, stone etc,

I'm wasting time by doing enjoyable things. Not stuff that could pass as work, thats why i consider it great if those aspects get removed as far as possible.
Stacking stuff in boxes doesn't trigger any gratification for me, even if it does for you.

Apologies for the necro but this is such a ridiculous take that I felt compelled...!

How is a 'stack all' button when you're next to your wall of chests not a major QOL addition? All it does is take away the tedious opening of every chest on said wall to store your inventory.

Madness anyone would argue against this imo.
Yeah i'm really hoping inventory management gets some TLC because this is a massive headache. Just a stack button to stack all similar items would be huge.
