When dying in lava does the items I lost from my inventory disappear?

When dying in lava does the items I lost from my inventory disappear? I can't find the corpse spot.

There should be an icon on your map (there has been one every time I've died, both on the map and the compass). the corpse should be on the nearest safe space if I remember right (it will not be right at the spot you died), like when you fall off a cliff your loot is at the top normally.

When you die the game will drop you stuff a certain time before when you died. So for example, if you ran off a cliff and fell to your death, your items dropped wouldn't be where you died at the bottom of the cliff, they would be a few seconds before you went over the cliff. Hopefully that makes sense. But as the above user posted just look for a skull icon on the map.

i had tough time retrieving my loot on hollow halls lava tunnels once, so i recommend to not keep almost 5000 runes with you as i did.
I did get my items back after several tries, but problem was that you can not bookmark your body inside hollow halls so gliding in to specific spot was hard as you could not see place until you were almost on top of it.

Or choose 'edit' on your server at the start of the game where you choose which server. Click option not to lose inventory upon death.

When I died in lava it moved my corpse totem to the edge of the lava. I wonder if it will do the same with deadly shroud? Digging straight down to the totem is very difficult if not almost impossible sometimes, but not undoable when you die on lava or underground in odd places.
