How to keep your home warm in the mountains?
Is there any way to build in new mountains and have permanent heat? I made everything airtight, put in a fireplace, glass windows and furnaces, but the timer keeps counting down.

I was wondering the same thing; if you could build in the 'frost' zone.

It may be that frost/cold is treated like shroud so you cannot build in an area covered by it an can only build below the frost zone altitude wise.

I thought the mid-tier fireplaces are supposed to grant frost resistance?

I haven't built anything in the new biome yet, but the fireplaces are marked as having different levels of frost resistance - do they not work?

They work, but they only increase the available time a bit.

You can't i tried all the fireplaces in the game. Only way to restore is just teleport back to your main base which kinda sucks.

From what I've seen there's no way to do this.
I'm not sure what the intended purpose of the fireplaces that give the extra cold resist are.
Quickly spawn in base and run out with added bonus? That seems gamey and dumb if you can't even live in a house you've made.

I have a suspicion that it's either:

A. An oversight that they don't keep your house warm and safe.

B. A value that was supposed to be hidden, but is there because those fireplaces spawned in ruins or camps can give you a bit more cold resist as you pass by.

Sounds like a pretty big oversight... =\

If you sit in front of a fireplace or otherwise be in the vicinity of one it should cancel out the frost timer - or at least keep it from counting down (similar to how standing next to a respawn point in the Shroud prevents the shroud timer from counting down).

One of my goals this playthrough was to build a sizable base in the snowy biome, but that sounds like it'll have to wait until the devs address this issue.

I had the same plan, and now I am heavily disappointed.

You can still build them in the north bits, just not in the specific snowy frostbite areas. But yeah.

You can put down a flame altar and be immune, maybe only after you've reached a point of the quests.

@Fryskar So a max upgrade flame altar will stop the frost within its build zone? If true then this is more than workable as you can expand to a pretty build build area as well all know.

I have not yet upgraded the altar to the maximum level. Lower than the maximum does not give immunity.

frost resist armor helps

I can't tell you whats the trigger, only that its reachable. I'd guess either its all balefires lit (endboss ready) or flame lvl 8.

I would understand only LARGE fires keeping heat, small ones only adding time
