Warm Padding

I can't figure out what to do with the warm padding. Completed the quest to tame a Yak, brought it back, harvested wool, and made the warm paddings. But that seems to be it. Is there a way to make armor using it so I can explore the new biome? I feel like I missed something.

All the lvl 33 armours need warm padding as an ingredient, if theyre not available at the crafters (blacksmith, hunter, alchemist) you haven't gotten the unlock ingredient yet, prolly steel/silver/amethyst

Thank you! I was really going crazy trying to figure that out. A little bummed that I have to level up a bit before exploring the new land, but at least there's an answer.

And I am still figuring out how to tame a yak, do you need to complete all the pet quests before you can get it?

you have to TAME A YAK before you can make the new gear??
And here I thought they'd learned not to gate all the new stuff behind tedious grinds this time

you can kill them and loot the wool, but its much less efficient

Just do the new tower first then you get the yak tame quest. I had accidentally ran past by the tower and forgot about it. Took me ages to figure out how to get bait. The gating is a little silly in this game but ok.
