Dogs, cats, etc.. and shelter?

So I got the dog and cat last night, and they are fat and happy with their pillows and food bowls, in a pen under the stars.... will start getting the other animals too.

Do we only get one dog and one cat? Because if there arent more I'll just move them in and make housepets out of them.

And ... the quest says "shelter" for these animals. It didnt complain when I didnt give a roof over their heads.... and they still give me a buff. So is shelter really required for any animal? ie is there a benefit for them or me that only occurs with shelter?

I think Shelter in this case is the bed you give them. Not sure though.

- Anyone knows if cats and dogs have any benefit besides more life in your base ? Like goats produce milk.
- Do cats and dogs breed if there are 2 or more in the base ? (If 2 or more are possible at all.)

You can pet either for a 30 min +35hp buff.

After quiet some searching i've found so far 3 dogs and 2 cats, so i suspect there is at least a 3rd cat as well.
E: just found cat nr 3.

All 4 are in the nomand highlands and kindlewastes, i've marked them as green animal on the map. It just barly fits the screenshot.

Since they're all named, i'm certain you can't breed them. But you can just capture them again.
