Game stutters due to hotbar
Hey, so the problem is that game is stuttering when i switch my tools on hotbar and it makes no difference whether I do it with keyboard or mouse wheel. It causes so much lag that my friend cant even walk in co-op mode. It appeared after last big update. Also as i tested there's no correlations with graphics settings, installed game files or etc. Any solutions on that?

UPD. Move cloud saves to local save folder and disabled cloud saving for this game in steam.

local save files:
C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\Enshrouded

cloud save files:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YourSteamID\1203620\remote

Thanks to Commissar Xainath and ProkC for their help!

Hey, having the same problem, could you share your PC's specs?
Chi11 Aug 2, 2024 @ 3:47pm
Sure
RTX 3070
i7-11700k
32 GB RAM
It was enough to play on ultra graphics 60+ FPS, but as i said it has no correlation with PC components or settings or files, It's like the game tries to reload the object into hands every time. Also, it stutters not only because of the hotbar scrolling \ fast switching, but every time something appears on my character, such as a glider or grappling hook.

Same here, very annoying

I have found a fix that works for me: Check where your Steam is installed. If its an HDD Drive install, move it to an SSD. That fixes it, thats all, not kidding.

You can check your Install drive by going to Steam - Settings - Storage and find "Steamworks Common Redistributables"

You can move your steam installation folder by going to your drive and copy pasting the "Steam" Folder into your SSD drive, deleting the HDD one

(If this doesnt fix your problem, look for "LiaNdrY Enshrouded Tool-Fix" on github, its a short PowerShell tool to check if your system is up to date for Enshrouded)

Quote Mama Kira (Helper on the Enshrouded Discord):

"It's been discovered that this issue is (primarily if not solely) effecting people whose steam is installed on a HDD drive instead of an SSE and the game is installed on a separate SSD.

While the devs are aware of this issue, and this information (when they get into work) - I am unsure as to how long it will take for them to discover exactly what is happening and to be able to fix it, so we have tested a fix here that, so far, has worked for everyone with the issue.

If you choose to do this, to fix the freezing/stuttering issue, you will need to uninstall steam from your HDD and reinstall it on the same SSD as you have enshrouded installed.

(I am uncertain as to whether this issue affects people who have the game installed on an HDD, since the minimum requirements for the game ask for an SSD, and no one I have come across has had it installed on an HDD.)"

did it work?

As a player using an SSD, it doesn't seem to matter. The issue is really noticeable during combat when trying to quickly switch to a healing item while backing away from the enemy. It will freeze up for a second or two, and suddenly the enemy will be right in your face like (forgive the weeb reference) Dominique the Cyclops gave you a look with her eye.

Have you checked your STEAM installation folder, not your Enshrouded. I believe the issue could be caused too if they're not located on the SAME SSD. But I don't understand the technicality behind it sadly.

The Enshrouded Discord has a help channel where they usually respond quite quickly.

Yeah, i've tried that option with SSD and files location etc. Nothing helped me at all. So here i am just waiting for devs to fix that issue. It appeared after v0.7.3.0 update, and there's no positive changes at the moment. :steambored:

The changing steam location work for me here.
I tried reinstaling the game, checking all drivers.

And the problem still going.

But after ctrl C ctrl v the steam folder to the location of the game, ps (i have 3 ssd's on the pc, no hdd instaled) the game stop stuttering when scrolling the itens on quickbar.

i5 12600k - 3060ti

I almost gave up and asked for a refund for the game

Yeah, i've heard about this solution. Unfortunately, i have my steam and game folders on the same disc. Also i've found out that this problem happens to people with SSD and the reinstallation to HDD did the trick. So i'm genuinely confused about all this situation right now xd

It's a common Steam issue that both the game and Steam need to be on the same drive. I have both on same drive my C: Samsung 2tb 980pro nvme main drive.

Did you all try disabling Steam shader pre-caching? Steam settings/downloads scroll down and uncheck Shader pre-caching. Just something to try. I've had mine off for a year now. I'd try that before changing drives.
