Did I miss deep characterization of the Bard?

It seems that the bard might have a back story that I glanced past. Valory has such a craggy masculine face, she could be a Keith Richards troll complete with medieval guitar, or a Sweet Baby Inc response. Pretty funny either way.
Just to be sure and objective, I submitted facial pics of the bard and the hunter (Hood hiding her hair) to Google image search, which correctly yielded 4/5 female matches for the Hunter, but 30/30 male matches for Valory. All other crafters are very stereotype.

I don't understand the point of a post like this. You say she has a craggy masculine face but others may not agree with your interpretation. Don't compare her with Keith Richards. I don't care how many pictures you submitted to Google image, looks are not that simple of an interpretation.

She looks like someone who spend many, many years on the road, playing at town taverns and coaching inns, always on the move, propelled by fear of what she left behind, drawn by curiosity of what might lay ahead.

I usually just call the NPCs whatever their job is, but I'ma refer to the bard as "Guitar Grandma."

you know there's even more of an amusement at connecting her with Keith Richards. If you listen closely to the guitar in the background near her in your base, you'll hear what sounds very like the guitar notes from "Paint it Black", which he helped to write.

Valory is cool. There are some scrolls in the Pike which explain her story.
