as a wizard just using the wand ... at all. What i see it a wizard with sword/shield or dual swords and tons of magical buffs for defense and offense.
That's why i was SO disappointed when i saw what a battlemage was in Enshrouded... a wizard running around with a WAND..
To me battlemage is more a general category. Both Shadowknights and Paladins fall into it; armor wearing, melee proficient and having some skills in certain, albeit limited, classes of magic.
Self buffs, some AoE and some single target spells; a small selection, but ones that support their 'calling' be it holy light damage or a dark life tap.
The concept being a battlemage has sacrificed the ability to 'go deep' into magic instead choosing to also have some martial skill prowess (and wear armor).
I think it would be better if the class names were removed from the skills page. All they achieve is giving people justification to focus on "builds", which is my number 1 pet peeve when it comes to any rpg. Just play the game and pick skills that are fun FOR YOU - who cares about the rest
