Books are already pretty expensive to make, we don't need them to become even more expensive
Bruv, I'm talking about INSTEAD of using old books.
I'd even be fine with 2:1 and 8:4 with old books. But the current price is just *insert too dam high meme here*
Also leather and paper is pretty damn expensive to craft and require besides lots of high tier stations also some pretty rare resources like Ammonia Glands which definitely not are easy to come by in early game like books are, you can only get them from some pretty tough creatures in Nomad Highlands biome, which you definitely have to be pretty high level to reach XD
As it is now, books require a lot of old books, but you can pretty much craft them in early game when you have gotten the Alchemist.
I agree that they should lower the cost for books, maybe not 1 to 1 as suggested, but for a lot less old books as it is currently :)
Nowhere in my statement did I say that they should no longer be craftable with Old Books... I'm not really sure what your problem is here. I can farm all of the necessary ingredients to build a secret bookcase door relatively easy. Farming the Old Books to make a bookcase filled with the exact same number of books will take several hours to farm.
