Recently planted flax disappearing

Just planted about 100 flax plants. I planted in rows. Got back to the beginning of the first row (U pattern) and some of the flax plants were gone. Weird. So I planted new ones to make an even row.

They disappeared about 5 seconds later. Did it again, same thing, they're gone.

Must be a max amount of plants? Some bug?

Can be your farm soil doesn't reach deep enough, it must be 2 blocks deep to grow plants, otherwise they disappear. Try to remove your farm soil, clear the underground and then place it again.

You don't need farmsoil to plant flax. I never used any Farm soil to plant my stuff.

yEs, you're right. But can be there is stone or a piece of building block under the farm soil, and in that case you need to remove this.

That's probably not it, I've placed all this dirt and planted plants on those spots many times. I'll try removing it and putting it back, but that's probably not the issue.

i have had this same issue many times and lost 100 plus plants/trees, i found out myself that its an issue with the ground, lets say you change up the landscape a bit and you fill it back in with rock,grass or even sand and fertilizer, (in rare cases even part of the games landscape) and lets say its a small space you changed, if there is even the smallest gap between each laid piece of landscape ( an air pocket for short ) when you plant the item it is actually dropping down that air pocket to the next solid block and the game reads that as incorrect input and just deletes the item all together. in other words it just fell through the floor. hope this helps answer your problem a bit

My fix to this was to turn off the "free mode" I can't think of the term at the moment, but just have it set to where it locks in place, like auto alignment or whatever it is, and I haven't lost a plant since!
