(!) Carry more at least two melee weapons, and at least one ranged in your backpack at all times. If one melee weapon breaks, oh well. You have a secondary. You also have a bow to add some variety even if you're a melee only build, the bow doesn't care. It's still useful to you. If you pick up any junk weapons along the way, use those to smash objects for resources. To preserve what durability is left of the preferred weapons.
(2) Yes, it is intended you return to your home base from time to time to fix your gear. Drop off items into storage. And if you built a house, fort, tower, castle or hobbit cave - you'll get resting buffs by spending sometime inside your base. That's if you've been raising it's comfort level. It's worth it.
Alternatively, you can place a fast travel virtually anywhere by only having one proper base. You simply carry a flame altar on you to create a temporary base anywhere that allows it. Fast travel back to your home base. Then return to where you left off later. Pack up the recently place flame altar at your temporary base. Continue on your adventure. Easy.
Mage has 3 wands, a staff and a sword and shield.
Ranger has 2 bows + sword and shield. All also carry two mining picks as I don't bother with the perks.
Been doing that since launch.
And mainly speaking for wands, I go through the dura of them like crazy.
Then again I saw in patch notes that they had their dura loss increased which makes me wonder why?
Depending on your build they are not more powerfull then other weapons, so why penalize using them?
But oh well guess I have to look at them as consumables then and pack plenty...
yes, there are repair anvils in many places etc...
but having full inventory is already a reason to return to base. resting buff is also a big incentive to return to base.
why adding the tediousness of durability? it doesnt bring much that's not already done by other features anyway.
merely a reason to justify upgrading to the next material for tools
Also, it's weird that weapons have durability but Armor don't. It's just an annoying mechanic. Like, you either have to carry a ton of weapons with you around, or you just repair them free on anvils.
It's just annoying and does nothing for the game ...
Esspecially, why are there weapons who have no durability and others who have less durability even fully upgraded, legendary?
Make it make sense.
I could understand it if you need some materials to repair the stuff as a resource sink and so on.
But with no cost for repair there is just no point for durability on the weapons.
This is beyond true i am just saying. There are actually tons more than people realize. good post.
I've also got a specific colour icon for repair stations (yeah I know the map is crowded)
I'm hoping for a map filter so I don't need a third party program
Having to carry multiple weapons because of that is just silly and annoying.
Should be carrying weapons of different damage types anyway, quit whining.
