I never in my life imagined I would be annoyed at the thought of an egg. xD Yet here we are.

Does anyone have any good farming advice on these things? Cause I need some mushroom omelets, yet getting enough eggs is like I'm trying to squeeze the damn things out of these cliff climbing chicken f***s. And what's the deal with *that*, btw?! I've gone out, seen a big group way outside of their range to detect me, hurled a fireball at them and somehow *missed them all* then they scattered and ran up vertical surfaces like they were walking on flat ground! Wand attacks? Dodged and missed. Arrows? Dodged and missed. Not that killing them actually gives eggs... Only the Vukah seem to have them, and then only in small amounts. The chickens don't make nests, so you can't raid nests. Killing bandits has netted me a whole 4 out of about 30 kills.

Why are eggs so hard to obtain?

the yetis in the desert like the oasis and other deserts when you kill those guys they usually have eggs and feathers on them. Otherwise, you need to kill the big bird/teradactly looking birds and if you get one in the nest you can find a nice group of eggs in the nest.

I'm holding out hope that we're meant to *farm* the chickens at some point in the game, and that animal husbandry will be a part of the farming experience. If so, eggs should be easier to obtain at that point.

Best bet... Birds, they almost always have eggs and they give you a feather. Then the Vukas drop eggs sometimes. Bird nests usually have them and if you know where a few nests are in an area, make a run with an spare altar nearby for every 30 mins you can go back to loot once more.
Easiest way to kill the birds is to either wand them birds to death or use one stun arrow then beat them to a pulp with a strong mace to the face.
You have to grind your way through several mobs. Rinse and repeat. It's a long tedious gathering process, no matter what you're after.

Hopefully they plan to open the game up to mods like in Valheim that will help make planting easier.

The farming option could be a chicken coop similar to the beehive, tell it to make a batch of eggs and it uses up something like wheat, maize or critter parts.
